Sandvik Coromant Announces New Coromant CaptoŽ Coupling for Large Machines
New coupling offers optimized performance for demanding operations in large machines
Fair Lawn, New Jersey, February 4, 2009 - Sandvik Coromant will release the largest size of Coromant CaptoŽ coupling as a standard in March 2009. Designed to improve performance for demanding applications in the largest machine tools, the C10 coupling allows higher feeds and depths of cut to be achieved when machining components for the aerospace, gas turbine and railway wheel turning industries.
The C10 coupling has a flange diameter of 100 mm (3.937 in), which effectively transmits torques generated at heavier loads to not only provide higher bending strength and metal removal rates but also improve accuracy in the application area. This coupling size also achieves maximum stability for turning and milling tools and provides high rigidity for extended tool setups.
A complete tooling setup is available in size C10, including basic holders, reduction and extension adaptors. Coupling blanks are also available and can be manufactured to the needs of individual tools for further flexibility.
The Coromant Capto coupling is a true modular system, allowing full interchangeability of tools in different machines throughout the workshop to reduce inventory and cost. It provides flexibility and quicker tool changes for multi-task machines, turning centers and machining centers.
