Laser Center includes automatic material handling.

February 13, 2009 - Featuring 5-axis gantry robot for material loading, sorting, and stacking, Model LC6 processes sheets up to 8 mm. System is based on Rofin Sinar 2,500 W diffusion-cooled CO2 SLAB laser with autofocus cutting head. Center's 3,000 mm X axis is actuated by rack-and-pinion system, while 1,500 mm Y axis is actuated by double ball screw. Two drop doors accommodate max component sizes of 300 x 400 mm and 800 x 800 mm. Clamp setting is programmable for almost complete elimination of dead zones.

New FINN-POWER Laser Center With Automatic Material Handling

As fabricators increasingly seek flexibility to remain competitive, and as the effect of set-up times and manual operations on component costs is decisive, automation of the material flow has become a major issue.

FINN-POWER responds to this demand with the new, compact LC6 co-ordinate table laser center with integrated loading, sorting and stacking. In the area of material handling of laser cut components FINN-POWER provides a versatile solution, which completely automates this section of the material flow even for complex nests.

The basis of the new laser center LC6 is Finn-Power's two-decade experience in modular technology in combination with the latest generation of CO2 lasers.

LC6 integrates laser operation and part handling for fabricating high-quality components. Fast, accurate sheet positioning and the integrated Rofin Sinar 2,500 Watt diffusion cooled CO2 SLAB allow faster, economical processing of a wide range of materials. The laser unit is equipped with an autofocus cutting head, and laser process control function is available as an option.

Clamp setting is programmable for almost complete elimination of dead zones. The 3,000 mm X axis is actuated by a rack and pinion solution and the 1,500 mm Y axis by a double ball screw. The axis concept together with smooth sheet movement over a brush table provides high part accuracy. Sheets up to 8 mm / 200 kg can be processed.

Automation based on experience

The material handling solution is a result of hundreds of FINN-POWER applications and a wide modular product range. It features a 5-axis gantry robot for material loading, part sorting and stacking. There are two drop doors for maximum component sizes of 300 mm x 400 mm and 800 mm x 800 mm, as well as a 9-address device for sorting of small parts. Also automatic laser scrap sorting and skeleton unloading functions are included.

Finn-Power is a leading manufacturer of servo-hydraulic and servo-electric turret punch presses; flexible manufacturing cells & systems; lasers; punch-lasers; press brakes & robotic press brakes; automated benders; and additional material handling- and material management modules.
