Suited for residential and commercial applications, GlasRoc® Tile Backer provides moisture- and mold-resistance for walls, ceilings, and countertops in wet as well as non-wet installations. Embedded Glass Reinforced Gypsum technology combines reinforcing glass mats, fully-embedded into water-resistant gypsum core, and gray textured acrylic coating on surface. Able to be scored and cut with standard utility knife, product provides flat and uniform substrate that resists delamination.
VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Jan. 30 -- With the introduction of GlasRoc(R) Tile Backer by CertainTeed Gypsum, building professionals can protect walls, ceilings and countertops in high-moisture areas with the highest level of mold-resistance for residential and commercial applications.
GlasRoc Tile Backer features Embedded Glass Reinforced Gypsum (EGRG(TM)) technology which combines reinforcing glass mats, fully-embedded into a water-resistant gypsum core and a gray textured acrylic coating on the surface. The coated surface results in superior adhesion of latex-modified thin-set mortars for tile installations.
Suitable for both residential and commercial applications, GlasRoc Tile Backer can be used in bathrooms, kitchen counters and other high-moisture interior areas, and is suitable for both wet and non-wet installations.

With superior moisture-blocking capabilities, GlasRoc Tile Backer eliminates the need for the separate moisture barrier required for conventional cement boards. It provides a flat and uniform substrate that resists delamination and is significantly lighter than conventional cement board and can be scored and cut with a standard utility knife.
GlasRoc Tile Backer conforms to ASTM C 1178, which is recognized by the Tile Council of North America. The product yields the highest level of mold resistance -- a score of 10 -- when tested in accordance with ASTM D 3273, is UL classified for fire resistance for use in fire rated designs and features a limited, lifetime warranty for residential applications, and a limited 20-year warranty for commercial applications.
