Multisorb Technologies Introduces APA-4000 Sorbent Dispenser for High-Speed Packaging Operations

Buffalo, NY - (November 9, 2008) - Multisorb Technologies, the world leader in active packaging solutions, introduces the APA-4000, a new state-of-the-art sorbent dispenser developed to work together with Multisorb's portfolio of sorbent packets. Together, the APA-4000 and the company's sorbents offer customers a comprehensive system solution that includes sorbent technology, dispensing equipment, and technical consultation to meet oxygen and/or moisture protection needs.

The APA-4000 machine dispenses sorbents at high speeds into a broad range of food and healthcare product packaging. Featuring two servo-driven dispensing heads mounted on a single chassis, the APA-4000 is capable of speeds up to 600 packages per minute. Left and right infeeds from two separate spool splicing station cabinets ensure constant product flow for continuous uninterrupted operation, enabling more efficient use of line time.

The APA-4000 can be configured to meet the requirements of a variety of packaging applications, including HDPE bottles for pharmaceuticals, medical device and in-vitro diagnostic pouches, and food product packaging. The compact design has a small footprint for production layout flexibility.

The APA-4000 can be customized to work with different sorbent packet types, packaging formats, and drop configurations. In addition, the dispenser is compatible with a variety of packaging line layouts; including horizontal flow wrappers, vertical form-fill-seal, bottling lines, and thermoformed pouches. For dispensing and insertion of oxygen absorbing formulations the APA-4000is available with a spool supply chamber that is nitrogen purged, complete with nitrogen flow control, oxygen level monitoring, and alarming to preserve and protect the packets so that the full oxygen absorption capacity is delivered at the point of insertion into the package.

Multisorb Technologies has been an innovator in sorbent technology for over 45 years. Founded in 1961 by John S. Cullen to protect products against the damaging effects of moisture, today Multisorb is the world leader in the development and production of active packaging technology.
