Piezoelectric Force Washers suit production monitoring.

February 2, 2009 - Available with nominal forces of 50 and 140 kN, CFW Piezoelectric Force Washers feature split diaphragm measuring body and compact design for direct integration into force flow. Design automatically centers sensor through external and internal diameter without producing hysteresis errors. Integrated plug protection prevents mechanical damage to measuring lead. Since sensitivity of 4.3 pC/N is independent of measuring range, all common assembly and testing applications can be covered.

Piezoelectric Force Washers Suit Production Monitoring Applications

HBM has launched its CFW piezoelectric force washers for production monitoring applications in particular. The washers complete HBM's product portfolio of pie-zoelectric force sensors.

The force washers are extremely compact enabling easy direct integration into the force flow, for example, in assembly and testing applications. The measuring body features a split diaphragm (patent pending) ensuring higher linearity than conventional designs. Perfect test results are attained even if forces are not ap-plied centrically.

The design, which features high torsional stiffness, automatically centers the sensor through its external and internal diameter without producing any hystere-sis errors. The CFW piezoelectric force sensor is very robust for use in harsh industrial environments. Integrated plug protection prevents mechanical damage to the measuring lead.

The new CFW sensor is initially available with nominal forces of 50 kN and 140 kN. Since its sensitivity of 4.3 pC/N is independent of the measuring range, all common assembly and testing applications can be covered. The sensors are used in combination with CMA series charge amplifiers which are also suitable for use in harsh industrial environments.

Data sheets and more information about the new CFW sensors are available at www.hbm.com/production.
