OPW Engineered Systems Introduces Next-Generation 1004D3 API Bottom-Loading Coupler

Lebanon, OH - OPW Engineered Systems, a leading manufacturer of systems for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of hazardous materials, and a division of OPW Fluid Transfer Group, is pleased to announce the release of the next generation in API bottom-loading couplers, the 1004D3 API Bottom-Loading Coupler. The new D3 Coupler has been designed to be the safest, cleanest and fastest way to load transports. Manufactured to be a proven performer at major oil terminals around the world, the D3 offers several new features that make it the industry's most user-friendly bottom-loading coupler currently available today.

The advanced features of the D3 Coupler include a five-cam design that ensures easy alignment, tight adaptor connections and resistance to side forces while loading; dual interlocks that ensure that the D3 can't be opened unless it is properly connected to an API adaptor; a shaft design that relies on dual high-performance O-rings; a special Viton(TM) seal compound that is compatible with most petroleum products, including gasoline, high-sulfur diesel, biodiesel and ethanol; the elimination of all pins and small threads that can hamper access to critical components; a nose seal that can be replaced without removing the coupler from the rack; a stainless-steel, ergonomic handle that is smooth and easy to operate; and the ability to be completely rebuilt in minutes without the need for special tools.

OPW Engineered Systems also offers a 1004D3 SRK Seal Replacement Kit that includes all of the seals in the 1004D3 API Bottom-Loading Coupler. These seal-replacement kits are recommended as spare parts. Optional components that can be used with the 1004D3 include the 1004DRN Drain Adaptor, which allows easy, safe draining of the loading arm, and the 1004PA Parking Adapator, which is used to neatly store and secure loading arms when not in use.
