Laser Beam Splitters/Attenuators measure up to 400 W.

January 29, 2009 - Compact, portable LBS-300 Beam Samplers provide measurements of beams with up to 15 mm dia and power levels from 10 mW to 400 W. Devices transmit nearly all of beam, with less than 0.1% passed on to camera. They include 3 neutral density filter sets, fixed or continuous, and attach to C-mount, CS-mount, or Ophir-mount cameras. Available in 4 configurations, units enable 2 filters to be combined for adjustable attenuation down to 100,000,000:1.

Ophir-Spiricon Announces High Accuracy Laser Beam Splitter/Attenuator for Small Spot Sizes, up to 400 W

January 20, 2009 - Ophir-Spiricon, the global leader in precision laser measurement equipment, today announced the LBS-300 Beam Samplers, a family of high accuracy laser beam attenuators that combine a compact, portable design with small beam diameters and high power ranges.

Designed for challenging, high power applications, the samplers provides high accuracy measurements of beams with diameters up to 15mm and power levels from 10mW to 400W. This makes the LBS-300 ideal for enclosed workstations, such as micromachining, microwelding, and medical device manufacturing.

The LBS-300 Beam Sampler is designed to control and adjust laser beam output power reaching the camera. Approximately 99.9% of the beam is transmitted through the beam sampler with less than 0.1% passed on to the camera. The LBS-300 includes three neutral density filter sets, fixed or continuous, and attaches to C-mount, CS-mount, or Ophir mount cameras. Two filters can be combined to provide adjustable attenuation down to 100,000,000:1.

There are four LBS-300 configurations:

o LBS-300-UV for wavelengths from 266 - 355nm

o LBS-300-VIS for wavelengths from 400 - 700nm

o LBS-300-NIR for 1064nm wavelength

o LBS-300-BB for broadband applications, from 190-1550nm

"To paraphrase Deming, if you can't measure the process, you can't control it," stated GaryWagner, President, Ophir-Spiricon, Inc. "Many laser users are dealing with extremely small clearances, as small as two inches or less in some medical device workstations. These applications are difficult to profile and hard to control. Such precision work requires high accuracy equipment. The LBS-300 addresses these application requirements by measuring high powers and small spots with the added benefit of a portable form factor that can easily be moved from one camera to the next."

Pricing and Availability

The LBS-300 Beam Sampler is available now. Prices start at US$1995. OEM pricing available on request.
