Directed Perception PTU-D48-DVE Rugged Pan-Tilt for Driver Vision Enhancer

BURLINGAME, California. January 22, 2009 - Directed Perception, Inc., a leading manufacturer of advanced products for the control and pointing of sensors, today announced the availability of its PTU-D48-DVE model pan-tilt unit designed for use in Driver Vision Enhancer Family of Systems (DVE-FOS) and Forward Activity Detection Systems (FADS) applications. The PTU-D48-DVE is based on Directed Perception's popular and proven PTU-D48 family of pan-tilt units. The PTU-D48-DVE meets technical requirements for DVE/DVE-FOS/FADS systems while providing several capabilities that other solutions do not, including:
o Compact form factor
o Full digital interface with speed/acceleration control and absolute positioning - to meet current DVE/FADS requirements as well as future applications.
o Precise, slew-to-cue functionality
o Solid and vibration-tolerant for vehicle applications
o Reliable worm-gear design - no belts/pulleys
o Flexible payload mounting (top and/or side)
o Integrated controller - no other electronics box required
o Option for internal payload wire through

The PTU-D48-DVE provides a low-risk, drop-in solution for systems integrators and camera OEMs. Standard compliant interfaces reduce integration effort and ensure compatibility and interchangeability.
The integrated design of the PTU-D48-DVE provides a complete turn-key positioning solution for fast, accurate, dynamic, computer-controlled positioning of pan and tilt through a wide range of motion.
Compliant specifications plus advanced feature set at low cost
The PTU-D48-DVE meets technical requirements for DVE-FOS/FADS applications and is ideal for all similar vehicle mounted camera surveillance systems. The advanced features of the PTU-D48-DVE provide integrators a smooth migration path to meet tomorrow's requirements. The PTU-D48-DVE offers low parts count for increase reliability, high-volume manufacturability, and low cost.
The PTU-D48-DVE includes a fully-integrated controller with digital commands for fine-grained control of speed, acceleration, position limits, and power modes. Key specifications include:

o Single 16-32VDC power input with raw power conditioning
o Compact size (7.8"H x 5.4"W x 5.5"D)
