Flight Management System Software reduces pilot workload.

January 14, 2009 - Offering conformity for RNP SAAAR, WAAS-LPV reception, and FANS, Flight Management System v6.1/7.1 provides GPS-enabled flight information and compliance data, including access to routes in congested air spaces and oceanic airways. Software, which increases number of direct approaches available to autopilot, enables 1,000+ LPV and RNP approaches to be flown to lower minimums during inclement weather. It also provides conformity for landings in congested airspace and difficult terrain.

Honeywell Develops Industry's First Flight Management System Software in a Single Package for RNP SAAAR, WAAS-LPV and FANS Data Link

Data and Authorizations Give Pilots Greatest Flexibility, Flying Options

NBAA, ORLANDO, Oct. 4, 2008 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced the industry's first Flight Management System software to provide advanced GPS-enabled flight information and compliance - including access to routes in congested air spaces and oceanic airways.

The software provides conformity for RNP SAAAR (Required Navigation Performance Special Aircraft and Aircrew Authorization Required), WAAS-LPV (Wide Area Augmentation System-Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance) reception, and FANS (Future Air Navigation System).

"Pilots now have the access to the industry's most advanced Flight Management System software, offering three key operational features in a single software package," said Rob Wilson, President, Business and General Aviation. "Honeywell's 6.1 and 7.1 versions of the FMS software enable more than 1,000 LPV and RNP approaches to be flown to lower minimums during inclement weather and provide conformity for landings in congested airspace and difficult terrain.

"With a single software upgrade, the pilot's workload is significantly reduced and more direct approaches are available to the autopilot, saving time and fuel," Wilson said.

The 6.1 software upgrade for aircraft with Honeywell's FMZ-2000 flight management system and 7.1 software upgrade for operators of the Primus Epic avionics suite will be available beginning in 2009 on selected platforms.

Honeywell is now applying for TSO (Technical Standard Order) from the FAA, which is expected to authorize the software in late 2008. Key software features include:

RNP SAAAR - Allows landings in congested air space and difficult terrain. With FAA authorization, business jet pilots can fly safer and more direct approaches and departures, and in doing so increase operational efficiencies and reduce operating costs, noise and emissions. Coupled with Honeywell's "Go-Direct" RNP services, operators can quickly benefit from more direct approaches.

WAAS-LPV - This functionality offers GPS vertical guidance for lower minimums during a GPS approach. More than 1,000 approaches are enabled through the WAAS GPS Space-Based Augmentation System (SBAS). Pilots will now be able to accept the LPV approaches for lower landing minimums.

FANS - Creates a radar-like environment in key oceanic regions and enables data link communications to Air Traffic Control providing route flexibility, reduced crew workload and more closely controlled arrival and departure times.
