Temperature Instruments offer less than ±1.5 µV of noise.

January 9, 2009 - Using low-level signal conditioning while maintaining 3 Hz bandwidth at 10 Hz sampling rate, TEMPpoint DT9871U for USB and DT8871U for Ethernet offer temperature accuracy of ±0.15°C. Devices feature up to 48 dedicated 24-bit A/D converters, up to 48 dedicated CJC circuits, and 1,000 V channel-to-channel galvanic isolation for signal protection. Sixteen opto-isolated digital I/O lines are provided for monitoring and driving relays.

Data Translation Cuts Noise in TEMPpoint Temperature Instrument

November 18, 2008 - Data Translation announces an ultra-quiet version of its TEMPpoint temperature measurement instrument. The DT9871U for USB and DT8871U for Ethernet offer less than ±1.5 uV of noise and temperature accuracy of ± 0.15 degree C. These measurement accuracies represent the highest level of fidelity in the industry today. These results are obtained using low level signal conditioning while still maintaining 3Hz bandwidth at a 10Hz sampling rate. The superior noise level can be even further reduced using software selectable filters built into the firmware in the instrument.

Key Design Features of the Ultra-Quiet TEMPpoint are:

o Up to 48 dedicated 24-bit A/D converters for ultimate resolution

o Up to 48 dedicated CJC circuits guarantee ultra-high (±0.01%) accuracy.

o 1000V Channel-to-Channel galvanic isolation for superior signal protection

o Automatic linearization of B, E, J, K, N, R, S, and T standard thermocouples, break detection

o Expand to hundreds of channels by adding instruments to the network

o 16 (8/8) opto-isolated digital input and output lines for monitoring and driving relays.

o Constant throughput across all channels at rates up to 10Hz per channel

o Free TEMPpoint application, user ability to modify, with LXI discovery

o High Accuracy Voltage Measurement, ±75mV range

Software Support

TEMPpoint ships with a ready to measure comprehensive TEMPpoint application. The TEMPpoint application is an executable program created with Measure Foundry that allows you to acquire temperature measurements, display, analyze, and save data to disk, all without writing any code. This application can be modified to fit your unique application by using Measure Foundry. Additionally, the TEMPpoint application offers the ability to export data to other applications such as Microsoft Excel and MATLAB. Additional information on other USB and LXI software supporting TEMPpoint including IVI-COM drivers, .NET class libraries, and SDKs are available on our website.

Pricing and Availability

USB version starting at $3195, Ethernet version starting at $3695. Delivery is 4-6 weeks ARO.

"Customers have indicated their desire to see hardware filtering in the instrument to lower noise, rather than relying on a software filter," said Fred Molinari, President and CEO. "The DT9871U and DT8871U are the answer to this need."
