Dome Seals for Food and Pharmaceutical Production

Replacement dome seals for use in the food and pharmaceutical sectors are now available from James Walker Keaflex. Made from Elast-O-Pure(R), an ethylene-propylene (EPDM) synthetic rubber compounded in-house by James Walker, the seals are available in a wide range of sizes.

The simple design and high reliability of dome valves have led to their adoption in a wide range of industries for controlling the flow of bulk materials such as powders, pastes and granules. The valves are compressed air operated, and use an inflatable sealing mechanism which provides a pressure tight seal against the dome when in the closed position.

Elast-O-Pure is specifically formulated for use in pharmaceutical and bioprocessing environments and is rated to USP 30 Class VI classification for pharmaceutical use.

Dome seals from James Walker Keaflex are also available in other materials, including silicone rubber, fluorocarbon rubber, NBR and HNBR chloroprene. The valves are used in a wide range of industrial applications, such as coal fired power stations, waste incinerators, cement and gypsum production and the iron and steel industry.

Standard diameters from James Walker Keaflex range from 50 mm to 400 mm, with other sizes available on request.

James Walker Keaflex's activities in the design and production of elastomer mouldings range from product design and process engineering through to prototype and full production. They are based on the company's extensive knowledge of rubber and plastics moulding and machining techniques, including rubber to metal bonding.

A specialist in precision elastomer engineering, with a long history of innovation in product design and process optimisation, James Walker Keaflex is a member of the James Walker Group. This global manufacturing group, with an annual turnover in excess of GBP 130 million (Euro 160 million), operates through two strategic business units: Sealing Products & Services and Rail Systems & Products. It has 50 production, engineering, distribution and customer support sites worldwide and sells in over 100 countries.
