Polarizer enables high-quality video for spectrometers.
November 28, 2008 -
Designed for use with RamanStation 400 spectrometer, Raman Polarization accessory features high-quality video camera with built-in adjustable sample illumination source. Optical head, which can be positioned for analysis of different samples, can rotate downward for working with samples on microscope slides and with fabric or plastic workpieces or be positioned horizontally for analysis of samples in cuvettes, capillary tubes, and vials.
PerkinElmer today introduced the Raman Polarization accessory for use with its RamanStation 400 spectrometer. The accessory features a high-quality video camera with a built-in adjustable sample illumination source, which is essential for accurate sample positioning and alignment.
The Raman Polarization accessory's optical head can easily be positioned for analysis of a vast array of samples. It rotates downward for working with samples on microscope slides and with pieces of fabric or plastic, and can be clicked into the horizontal position for analysis of samples in cuvettes, capillary tubes and vials. For standard Raman spectral acquisition, the polarizers can be removed.
Polarized Raman measurements are most often used to understand the orientation of molecules in organized environments such as crystal lattices, liquid crystals and polymer samples. However, the measurements can also yield valuable spectral information about molecular structure of samples in fields such as synthetic chemistry or polymorph analysis.
