Eaton Enhances Data Center Power Management with New Enclosure-Level Software and Cables

RALEIGH, N.C.... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced the availability of the Eaton Enterprise Power Manager (EPM) software and a full line of power cables. These power distribution solutions allow data center managers to more effectively measure and manage power at the rack and server levels.

With Eaton's EPM software data center managers can now monitor and manage a virtually unlimited number of enclosure power distribution units (ePDUs(TM)) and midrange uninterruptible power systems (UPSs) with a cohesive, enterprise-wide view. Instead of viewing the status of each ePDU or UPS individually, the EPM's single interface, reporting capabilities and notification settings aggregates all the power management information allowing data center managers more time to proactively analyze and plan. The graphical view and reporting features of the EPM software allow data center managers advanced customization capabilities.

"With the EPM software, you do not have to surf hundreds of URL addresses to gain important visibility into your enclosure power distribution statistics," said Michael Camesano, product manager, ePDUs and enclosures, Eaton. "If you do not have a high-end power or facilities management system, EPM provides essential visibility into power conditions at a very reasonable price."

Eaton's new line of cables offers a cohesive and reliable power distribution solution within three distinct product categories-adapters, jumpers and splitters. Adapters enable equipment with disparate input/output receptacles to work together. Jumpers connect two pieces of equipment without cluttering up the cable arrangement; and splitters add extra equipment to a UPS or power distribution unit (PDU) without using additional outlets.

"Eaton created this line of cables with its customers in mind, to consolidate ordering and shipping for the complete data center power infrastructure and to cover the three most prevalent power cable issues data center managers face," said Camesano. "We addressed critical needs: to reliably connect a power source to subsidiary power distribution equipment or IT systems; to power more equipment without using up limited outputs on PDUs, rack power modules (RPMs) or UPSs; and to enable equipment with a variety of power cord interfaces to connect easily."

For additional information about Eaton's enclosure power distribution solutions, visit our Web sites www.epdu.com or www.eaton.com/powerware. Customers can download a free full-featured edition of EPM software at www.epdu.com/epm.
