System delivers oxygen and moisture management.

November 11, 2008 - To aid in product stability, StabilOx® System combines high-speed sorbent dispensing equipment with oxygen and moisture management packets. StabilOx packets prevent effects of oxidative degradation in drug formulations and diagnostic reagents by minimizing oxygen levels in packaging, while managing drug product free moisture and package headspace moisture. Suited for 3-shift operation, StabilOx Dispensers can dispense 300 packets/min as well as verify placement in every container/package.

Multisorb's Stabilox® System Delivers Effective Oxygen And Moisture Management With High Speed Dispensing Equipment

Multisorb Technologies, the global leader in active packaging technology, today introduced the StabilOx® System. As part of Multisorb's suite of system solutions, it combines Multisorb's high speed and reliable sorbent dispensing equipment with the company's effective oxygen and moisture management packets. StabilOx packets prevent the effects of oxidative degradation in drug formulations and diagnostic reagents by reducing oxygen levels in packaging, while managing drug product free moisture and package headspace moisture, ensuring drug stability and efficacy. StabilOx dispensers use high-quality sensors, drive mechanisms, and cutters to provide higher speed and efficiency to packaging operations. Together, StabilOx packets and dispensers help companies realize significant time and cost savings.

The system can be configured for sorbent insertion into a variety of healthcare packaging presentations: HDPE and glass bottles for tablets and capsules, blister packs, in-vitro diagnostic packaging, and respiratory drug delivery and medical device pouches.

The StabilOx packet functions by providing its own moisture to initialize the oxygen removal process from the package. It then continues to absorb oxygen which may ingress through the package wall while maintaining an optimal equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) in the package headspace. This is critical in retaining drug performance, stability and integrity.

StabilOx dispensers are sturdily designed to allow for three-shift operation, while fewer moving parts compared with traditional mechanical drive systems minimize maintenance and downtime. Capable of dispensing 300 packets per minute, as well as verifying placement in every container/package, it is one of the fastest and most accurate dispensers available. Its state-of-the-art Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) allow for easy set-up and operation, as well as seamless integration with other components of a packaging line.

These dispensers can be customized to work with different sorbent packet types, packaging formats, and multiple drop configurations. In addition, the dispensers are compatible with a variety of packaging line layouts, including horizontal flow wrappers, vertical form-fill-seal, bottling lines, and thermoformed pouches. The StabilOx dispensers are available with packet spool supply systems that offer optional automated nitrogen purge with related nitrogen supply and oxygen level monitoring/alarming to protect the scavengers from expending capacity before insertion.
