GWAVA Delivers GroupWise Users More Powerful Archiving Functionality for eDiscovery and Compliance Audits
GWAVA's latest version of Retain includes integration with newest version of GroupWise and a foundation for new GroupWise features expected next year
MONTREAL, Nov. 6 -- GWAVA, Novell's largest technology partner for GroupWise, announced today the latest version of Retain 1.6, the leading archiving tool for GroupWise administrators. This release comes at a time when courts are increasingly subpoenaing companies for their email records for compliance audits -- and many companies not being able to provide the information since they don't employ an archiving and retrieval solution.
Retain for GroupWise provides a comprehensive enterprise email archiving solution for departments and their users within an organization that makes searching, sorting, archiving and retrieval easy and accessible in case of a compliance audit or court request for email records. In addition, archiving allows GroupWise post offices to run much more efficiently.
The increasing email compliance laws make legal firms, government entities, federal organizations and higher education organizations ideal customers for Retain for GroupWise.
"The deluge of messaging data is piling up regardless of the size of an organization," said Richard Bliss, VP, global marketing, GWAVA "The question is how to store it cost effectively, yet have the information readily accessible in the event of litigation or a compliance audit. Retain 1.6 blends optimized storage and lightning speed to give GroupWise users the stability, protection and access they expect."
The Retain platform is prepared to support future GroupWise features such as "stubbing" which Novell has said will be available in 2009. Stubbing lets administrators move GroupWise messages out of the GroupWise database and store it in a different Archive Database, effectively increasing the storage capacity of a user's inbox. The end user won't perceive any change in the performance of email, but the GroupWise administrator will be able to reduce the overall storage load. Novell will offer a stubbing API for GroupWise and third-party vendors.
GWAVA Retain 1.6 is available for purchase and download.
