Offering out-of-the-box installation and Quick Start® functionality, OX-TRAN® Model 1/50 oxygen transmission rate (OTR) analyzer provides automatic controls for all testing conditions. Absolute coulometric method eliminates need for calibration, and built-in software minimizes user error. Using standard 50 cm² cell, analyzer tests medium to low barrier film within 0.1-200 cc/m2 day range and less than 65 mil thick. It can also test coated paperboard.

Minneapolis, MN (October 28, 2008) - MOCON, Inc. (NASDAQ: MOCO) launches its feature rich OX-TRAN® Model 1/50 an oxygen transmission rate (OTR) analyzer. The unit is designed for simple out-of-the box user installation and is packed with new technology. This includes an absolute coulometric method, built in software to minimize user error and automatic relative humidity controls.
The OX-TRAN Model 1/50 provides MOCON accuracy and combines it with a new patent pending coulometric method for absolute readings, eliminating the need to calibrate. The OX-TRAN® Model 1/50 also comes standard with Quick Start® functionality which speeds set-up time. Frequency Modulation RH Control(TM), provides faster and automatic relative humidity controls - a feature which is typically not found even on more expensive units which allows real-life testing conditions.
The instrument's small footprint uses minimum bench space and operator input is simplified with screen prompts, displayed on the easy to-read screens in any of five languages. Built-in (fault tolerant) safety systems prevent sensor damage and protect against over or under pressure or thermo runaway.
Further, the analyzer features automatic controls for all testing conditions, including relative humidity, temperature, etc. The horizontal test cell offers convenient film mounting via a pneumatic clamp for consistent force and a uniform seal. All of which make it extremely easy-to-operate with minimal training. Test results are displayed in real-time and can be output to a computer or printed via the standard thermal serial printer.
The OX-TRAN® Model 1/50 is designed for companies who were previously unable to justify the expenditure, the ability to perform in-house permeation analysis with an affordable, robust, easy to use, fault tolerant, quality test instrument.
Further, the new analyzer is between 30 and 70 percent less expensive than most other units available today. It is designed to test medium-to-low barrier film within the range of 0.1-200 cc/m2 day (using the standard 50cm2 test cell) and less than 65 mil thick. (It can also test coated paperboard.)
The OX-TRAN® Model 1/50 is an ideal entry level oxygen analyzer for films used in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, building and other applications. This instrument also conforms to ASTM D3985 and ASTM F1927 standards.
