Appleton Introduces Portable Receptacle/GFCI Combo for Hazardous or Wet Industrial Locations

-- U-line Combo Provides Required Circuit Protection for Portable Devices --

ROSEMONT, IL, October 24, 2008 - Appleton today announced it has expanded its popular U-LineŽ series of electrical receptacles to include the industry's first Class I, Division 1 and 2 portable receptacle/GFCI combination.

The company's new U-LineŽ 125VAC portable receptacle and GFCI delivers open neutral protection to protect plant personnel against the risk of electrical shock, while also safeguarding the connected apparatus against damage from short circuits and current overload. Engineered to safely work in environments classified by the National Electrical Code (NEC) as "hazardous" due to the presence of explosive liquids or gases, the combo also meets all UL and CSA requirements for non-hazardous locations, including marinas, docks and other wet applications.

The U-Line portable receptacle and GFCI is made of lightweight copper-free aluminum and weighs just 7.5 lbs. It features a GFCI designed in accordance to OSHA requirements for 20 amp receptacles, along with a built-in carrying handle and a heavy-duty 3-foot SO power cord with a U-Line 20A NEMA 5-20P plug.

A highly visible pilot light indicates the GFCI is engaged and that the receptacle is ready for use. Pilot lights are available in green or red, LED or incandescent.

The U-Line portable receptacle and GFCI are for use in conjunction with Appleton U-Line factory-sealed Model B receptacles or with standard 5-20R receptacles on 20A, 125VAC branch circuits.
