BOWE BELL + HOWELL Introduces Combo Inserting System

New Technology Moves from Flats Processing to Letter Processing in Minutes

DURHAM, N.C., Oct. 27 /- BOWE BELL + HOWELL, a leading provider of document processing and postal solutions, today unveiled the new Combo(R) inserting system, designed expressly to answer the mail processing industry's demand for a multi-application inserter that can change over from flats to letters quickly.

Its rapid changeover from flats to letters -- in minutes, rather than hours -- makes the Combo system the foremost inserter for flexible, high-speed applications. Exclusive to the Combo system, the EASE(TM) (Every Application Setup Easily) system dramatically reduces the number of steps required to change over from one job to another and can meet the needs of the most challenging environments. EASE incorporates a wide range of innovations, including self-locking synchronized guide adjustments, an inserting station elevator and uniform hinge-line registration.

Combining the functionality of multiple inserters, the Combo system handles applications for nearly any mailing operation, processing envelopes at rated speeds of up to 12,000 cycles per hour for letters and up to 9,000 cycles per hour for flats. The Combo system also features the new, patent-pending Control Document Collator, which provides operators a range of options for control documents and inserts.

"The Combo system is a result of our commitment to deliver mail processing solutions that streamline our customers' production process and eliminate the need for multiple inserting platforms," said John Lombard, BBH president of Field Operations. "Our customers' input and our focus on their success guided the design of this innovative system."

Reading technology can be added to the system to further increase the integrity and quality of mailings. VEKtor(TM) reading setup is performed exclusively through BOWE BELL + HOWELL's BICOS(TM) operating system with no manual operator adjustments for quick changeover. This superior vision technology can support reading of graphics and color recognition.

BOWE BELL + HOWELL will showcase the Combo inserting system at GRAPH EXPO, booth 1253, to be held at Chicago's McCormick Place, Oct. 26 to 29. Further information can be found at www.bowebellhowell.com/Combo or by calling 800-220-3030.
