Portable Touchscreen Instrument measures coating thickness.

November 3, 2008 - Combining 2 physical measurement methods, DUALSCOPE® FMP100 calculates thickness for non-magnetic coatings on ferrous substrate materials and electrically non-conducting coatings on NF-metals. Configuration options promote clear presentation of results, and user can create application-specific interfaces and printform templates. While USB port enables connection to external keyboard, printer, or PC, software is provided for managing measurement application and configuring instrument.

Fischer Technology DUALSCOPE® FMP100

Fischer Technology announces the release of the new DUALSCOPE®FMP100 touchscreen coating thickness measurement instrument. The instrument harmonizes the flexibility and capabilities of PC-based lab instruments with the manageability of compact portable units. The Windows(TM) CE based application software ensures the user has the ability to manage measurement application and configure the instrument. The combination of a bright LC display with a touchscreen simplifies settings, measurements and data evaluations. It offers numerous configuration options for a clear presentation of results and the drag and drop feature enables the user to create application specific interfaces and printform templates. The FMP100 and the various F-Probes form an integral measurement system, harmonized for best-possible trueness and optimum repeatability precision. The high precision of the probes significantly increases the typical measurement range, very thin and very thick coatings can be measured precisely.

The DUALSCOPE® FMP100 combines two physical measurement methods and conforms to many standards and practices:

Non-magnetic coatings on ferrous substrate materials (magnetic induction method) e.g. zinc, chromium, copper, tin, paint, varnish, plastics, enamel on iron or steel.
Electrically non-conducting coatings on NF-metals (eddy current method) e.g. paint, varnish or plastics on aluminum, brass or zinc as well as anodized coatings on aluminum.
ASTM D7091-05 standard practice for nondestructive measurement of dry film thickness on non-magnetic coatings applied to ferrous metals and non-magnetic, non-conductive coatings applied to non-ferrous metals.

External keyboard, printer or personal computer can be connected via the USB port for data or parameter input/output. Data export in PDF format is also available.
