Internally Fed Fine Screen prevents MBR fouling.

October 30, 2008 - Using woven wire panels or perforated plates with 0.5-6.0 mm openings, Drumscreen Monster(TM) removes unwanted solids and debris from flow of wastewater. External sprays, featuring adjustable on/off timer system, wash then flush organic material back into wastestream. Able to handle flow rates up to 12.5 million gal/day, screen works in front of membrane bioreactors (MBRs) and can also be used in headworks, sludge screening, and thickening as well as sluicing/screenings separation.

Drumscreen Monster(TM) Debuts at WEFTEC

JWC introduces a new Monster to their line of products. The Drumscreen Monster is an internally fed fine screen ideal for the removal of wastewater solids and debris using woven wire panels or perforated plates. The 0.5-6.0 mm openings remove unwanted material from the flow of wastewater, such as rags, plastics and hair. The external sprays wash then flush the organic material back into the wastestream. This new process reduces the solids loading which can foul the membrane bioreactor (MBR).

"The Drumscreen will work best in front of MBRs, but can also be used in the headworks, sludge screening and thickening," said Kenny Oyler, Director of JWC's Monster Separation Systems. "Also, the Drumscreen can be used in high volume sluicing/screenings separation," added Scott Kelly, Director of Sales.

It features an adjustable timer system to set the on/off timer for the spray wash system cycle. Also, variable frequency drive (VFD) which allows speed control to handle a variety of flow rates, up to 12.5 million gallons per day (2050 m3/h). The easy to lift cover allows access for inspection. The optional Screenings Washer Monster® which can be added washes, dewaters screenings by up to 50% or more and reduces the volume of screenings up to 80% or more. It lowers disposal cost and improves landfill acceptability.

Since wastewater is pumped inside the rotating screening drum, there is little chance for material to bypass the screen. The Drumscreen will result in less clogging of downstream equipment. "It's going to take out most everything you don't want in your treatment plant," said Oyler.

Drumscreen Monster was unveiled in Chicago at the annual WEFTEC Exhibit.
