Keithley Introduces Flexible, High Performance 50MHz Arbitrary Waveform/Function Generator

Cleveland, Ohio - October 14, 2008 - Keithley Instruments, Inc. (NYSE:KEI), a leader in solutions for emerging measurement needs, introduces the Model 3390 50MHz Arbitrary Waveform/Function Generator, featuring the highest waveform resolution and best price-to-performance value in its class. The Model 3390 is a flexible, easy-to-use programmable signal generator with advanced function, pulse, and arbitrary waveform capabilities. Superior signal integrity, faster rise and fall times, lower noise, and greater waveform memory combine to provide high quality output signals. High resolution waveforms are supported by four times the waveform memory of any competitive waveform generator on the market. Keithley is offering the Model 3390 for a special introductory price of $1,325 USD, valid through December 2008. For more information on the Model 3390, visit http://keithley.acrobat.com/model3390.

Among its many useful features, the Model 3390 includes:

50MHz maximum sine wave frequency
25MHz pulse frequency with 10ns minimum width
Arbitrary waveform generator with 256k-point, 14-bit resolution
Built-in function generator capability including sine, square, triangle, noise, DC, etc.
Precision pulses and square waves with fast (<10ns) rise/fall times
Built-in 10MHz external time base for multiple unit synchronization
Built-in AM, FM, PM, FSK, PWM modulation
Frequency sweep and burst capability
LXI Class C compliant Ethernet, TMC compliant USB and standard GPIB interfaces
Digital pattern output port and control capabilities
Industry-Leading Sample Speed and Memory Depth

Keithley's Model 3390 50MHz Arbitrary Waveform/Function Generator has the fastest repetition rates for waveform generators in its class - at least 2X faster than the competition. In addition to high sine wave frequency, increased speed provides a variety of application benefits, such as higher repetition rates for square, triangle, ramp, and arbitrary waveforms, faster rise times in pulse and point-to-point arbitrary waveform transition, higher modulation frequencies, and more realistic noise simulation. The Model 3390 has four times the memory capability of competing offerings, with 256,000 points, compared to competitive waveform generators that only offer 8,000 or 64,000. More points translate to a smoother waveform or a waveform four times as long with the same resolution.

Flexibility with Multiple Functions in One Package
The Model 3390 can perform six different key functions in one package, saving valuable rack space and eliminating the need to purchase separate instruments for function generation, pulse generation, waveform generation, pattern generation, noise generation, and modulation. The Model 3390 features a 10MHz standard external reference clock port that gives users the ability to easily synchronize multiple Model 3390 units or other equipment, simplifying unit-to-unit synchronization.

Unparalleled Ease of Use
The Model 3390 features a number of built-in standard waveforms and also allows users to define and store their own custom waveforms. It includes Keithley's KiWAVE Software, a waveform creation utility for creating custom arbitrary waveforms and managing waveform memory. KiWAVE lets users view waveforms in real units and perform waveform editing.

Price and Availability. The Model 3390 50MHz Arbitrary Waveform/Function Generator is priced at $1,650 USD and is available with a lead time of 2 weeks. However, Keithley is offering the Model 3390 for a special introductory price of $1,325 USD, valid through December 2008.
