LI-COR Introduces the Odyssey® Two-Color NIR Fluorescent Protein Molecular Weight Marker

LINCOLN, Neb., Oct. 14 /- LI-COR Biosciences introduces a new, novel protein molecular weight marker for detection on the Odyssey(R) Infrared Imaging system. The Odyssey Two-Color Protein Molecular Weight Marker is pre-stained and fluoresces in the 700 and 800 nm channels of the Odyssey System. The marker was designed for use with polyacrylamide gels and can be used to visualize the progress of protein separation during electrophoresis, to monitor transfer efficiency to Western blot membrane, and to determine the molecular weight of proteins of interest. The marker contains 10 proteins ranging in size from 10-250 kDa. It is supplied ready to use, with no dilution or reconstitution required. For more information go to http://www.licor.com/marker.

The Odyssey Infrared Imaging System is uniquely equipped with two infrared channels for direct fluorescence detection on membranes with sensitivity that is equal to or better than chemiluminescence. The superior signal-to-noise ratio produced using near infrared dyes produces results not possible with traditional fluorescence-based imaging systems. LI-COR infrared systems are noted for providing superior imaging for a growing list of applications including Western blots, In-Cell Western assays, EMSA's, gel documentation and in vivo imaging.

About LI-COR Biosciences

LI-COR(R) Biosciences is a leading manufacturer of near-infrared imaging platforms, analysis software, and LI-COR IRDye(R) infrared dye reagents for genomic, proteomic, and molecular imaging applications. LI-COR pioneered the development of near-infrared fluorescence detection systems for DNA sequencing and today provides systems for drug discovery, protein research, small animal imaging, and undergraduate training. LI-COR instruments for photosynthesis, carbon dioxide analysis and light measurement are recognized worldwide for standard-setting innovation in plant science research and environmental monitoring. Founded in 1971, the privately held company is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, with subsidiaries in Germany and the United Kingdom.
