Pegasus Imaging Releases Powerful New Version of Prizm® Viewer

Viewer adds exceptional document imaging capabilities to web browsers, changing the way users navigate, view, annotate, and share large image sets, regardless of file type

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 6 / / - Pegasus Imaging Corporation, the leader in digital imaging technology, today announced the release of a substantial upgrade to Prizm® Viewer, the browser-based image viewer in use by thousands of organizations around the world. Prizm Viewer allows users to navigate, view, annotate and share images, CAD and PDF files residing in document management or enterprise content management systems via a web browser. The viewer works with numerous image formats and includes powerful administrative tools for user interface customization, deployment and annotation storage. These features make it ideal for use in document-intensive industries such as financial services, healthcare, law, manufacturing, design and architecture, and many others.

Prizm Viewer is used for distribution of mission-critical documents in all of these industries because it provides a flexible, yet controlled, platform for sharing information. It has been integrated by existing customers to deliver documents that have been stored in Oracle®, FileNet®, Documentum®, and other systems. By creating web pages containing simple instructions, organizations can present multiple files to users as one "virtual document," control almost every aspect of the end-user viewing experience, and enable collaboration through centralized real-time annotations.

Prizm Viewer offers a wide range of capabilities, including the ability to view dozens of image formats through Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers, make shared annotations on the documents, work with large images, navigate using thumbnails and search PDF documents. Document management systems are used with Prizm Viewer via the web to enforce access and usage rights.

"Browsers have limited image display capabilities - viewing and working with documents requires an advanced set of features," said Jack Berlin, president of Pegasus Imaging. "The new version of Prizm Viewer significantly enhances the product's usability, file format support, display and navigation options. Prizm Viewer is already a document imaging industry standard, and we believe these enhancements will further broaden its appeal to end users and system administrators alike."

Powerful Administrator Tools

IT administrators can use Prizm Viewer as the cornerstone of enterprise solutions for document delivery and collaboration. They can package groups of documents for users, control the user viewing experience, centrally store annotations and build collaborative document workflows.

- Flexible deployment options - Software may be downloaded and installed from a single file. Administrators may also push installations without user prompting, or offer installation from a web page.

- Image integrity preserved - Annotations can be stored separately on the web server, without modifying the original document files. This allows users to collaborate, but in a manner that does not directly affect original images.

- Customized appearance - Extensive configuration options let the administrator customize toolbars, menus, initial display settings and more.

Comprehensive Document Imaging Capabilities
Prizm Viewer v8 offers end users the following capabilities:

- Single interface for any image format - Users can view TIFF, PDF, CAD, JPEG, BMP, PNG and other formats with exceptional speed and display quality. Rather than requiring plug-ins to view each file type, Prizm Viewer lets users work with them together. Version 8 now supports PDF up to v1.7; CAD formats, including DWG, DXF and DWF; image compression algorithms JPEG 2000, JBIG2, HD Photo (JPEG XR) and PNG; and AFP (MO:DCA) formats used by IBM® systems.

- Extensive annotation features - Prizm Viewer provides greater flexibility in attaching comments to documents, including PDF.

- Greater ease of use - User-configurable toolbars and custom scripted buttons, tables of contents, docking windows, an updated interface, and more keyboard and mouse controls make it easier for users to interact with documents.

- Large image support - Prizm Viewer views and prints large images such as engineering drawings and maps. Large prints can be spread across multiple sheets of paper.

- PDF text search - Users can search for text anywhere in a searchable multi-page PDF file. Search results are highlighted, with easy navigation to each page.

An overview, more information for end users, technical specifications for administrators and a trial download can be found at www.pegasusimaging.com/prizmviewer.

Availability

Prizm Viewer v8 is available with or without PDF support for single users, for deployment on virtual servers, or for distribution via a web license.
