Harris Stratex Networks' New End-to-End WiMAX Network Solution Targeted to Mobile Operators, Service Providers
Comprehensive WiMAX ecosystem, with integrated network management and turnkey design and deployment services, ideal for developing areas, Tier 2 and 3 providers
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Sept. 30 / / - Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSTX), the leading supplier of advanced wireless transmission solutions, today introduced its new end-to-end network solution for WiMAX networks, featuring a complete WiMAX ecosystem. The Harris Stratex solution incorporates a comprehensive set of services and integrated network management solutions designed to give service providers a single source for all their WiMAX network requirements.
The new solution is targeted to mobile operators in developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America that need to augment their mobile cellular services with fixed, nomadic and mobile broadband services, and have the opportunity to use WiMAX today while other standards remain in development. A key demographic is Tier 2 and 3 service providers that are starting to plan and build out networks targeting residential and business users with data, voice over IP and video-on-demand services. Harris Stratex will provide its experience, financial strength, global presence and successful track record in providing advanced wireless transmission solutions for both mobile and WiMAX backhaul networks.
The cornerstone is the new 7000 Series(TM) WiMAX platform, which supports IEEE 802.16e-2005 WiMAX standards for both mobile and fixed subscriber applications respectively. The 7000 Series supports flexible base station architectures and a large range of cost effective subscriber units, and also supports 450/700MHz for cost effective deployments in sparsely populated rural areas, making it an ideal match for deployments in locations such as Africa.
The end-to-end solution also includes Harris Stratex's market leading Eclipse(TM) platform for wireless IP backhaul and best-in-class core network services elements (ASN and CSN), all encompassed under an integrated umbrella network management system provided by the company's NetBossŪ Service Assurance platform. Service providers will also benefit from the extensive range of turnkey services provided by Harris Stratex, which includes everything from business planning, network design and optimization, IP transmission network design, installation and maintenance through to a complete managed network service.
"WiMAX networks are delivering increased broadband services to many developing and emerging economies around the world," said Emmy Johnson, principal, Sky Light Research. "To succeed, they require support from the complete ecosystem including backhaul support along with comprehensive, cost-efficient service and management expertise. Programs such as these enable mobile operators and service providers to be better positioned to succeed in delivering the mobile broadband services that customers require and ultimately create a better customer experience."
"Our expertise and significant local presence in our target markets ideally positions us to provide fully engineered and deployed WiMAX network solutions," said Harris Stratex President and CEO, Harald Braun. "Harris Stratex is very focused on delivering wireless transmission capabilities, so we are able to provide customers with the close attention and collaboration that they will need to be successful."
Harris Stratex will be showcasing its WiMAX solution at WiMAX World, held September 30 through October 2 at McCormick Place in Chicago, booth #126.
