NKK Switches CKM Series of High Security Keylock Switches Now Available

Series ideal for industrial control equipment, computer peripherals, instrumentation

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (September 29, 2008) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switching devices, announces the availability of the CKM Series of high security keylock switches. The CKM keylock switches are ideal for industrial control equipment, computer peripherals, and instrumentation and sensor equipment.

The CKM Series ON-OFF-ON switch models with tubular keys feature a push-and-lock mechanism which indicates to the user when the switch position has been changed. They also feature a vertically rotating switching mechanism and self-cleaning sliding contacts to ensure that they have a long operating life, smooth operation and guaranteed circuit contact.

Incorporating an antistatic insulating material, the CKM series is able to withstand 15 kilovolts of electrostatic discharge. Their Dielectric Strength rating is 1,500 volts between contacts and case for a one minute minimum. In addition, the terminals are epoxy sealed to prevent the entry of flux and other contaminants.

A 16mm double flatted bushing ensures that the CKM series fits securely in panel mounts. The operating temperature range is -25°C through 70°C and the switches are capable of withstanding 90-95 percent humidity for up to 240 hours. The series is rated 3A @ 250V AC.

These switches are available in single pole configuration and both two-position and three-position models. The two-position models feature a 90 degree angle of throw and the three-position models a 45 degree angle of throw. Circuit options are ON-ON or ON-OFF-ON.

Keys are removable in one or two positions depending on the circuit selection and flat or tubular key styles are available, with the flat key being reversible for easier setting. Keys are supplied with randomly assigned key numbers and one key is provided with each switch. Additional keys can be ordered by specifying the key number engraved on the switch.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty, surface mount and programmable switches. NKK manufactures more than 3.5 million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches, each of which can be used as the foundation of a customized design. All switches are designed and manufactured to provide the quality and dependability that has made NKK the benchmark for reliability for over half a century.

NKK continues to lead the industry in responding to the needs of the marketplace with innovation, high reliability, customization and a commitment to excellence. The company provides a full suite of customization solutions that include: design, programming, printing and support. NKK maintains a complete network of qualified representatives and distributors through the United States, Canada, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.
