Janam Announces Microsoft Windows Mobile Rugged Mobile Computer

Janam's XM65 brings together power, performance and price advantage like no other in its class

WOODBURY, N.Y., Sept. 23 -- Janam Technologies LLC, a provider of rugged mobile computers that scan barcodes and communicate wirelessly, today announced availability of the XM65, a powerful and affordable rugged mobile computer running Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Premium software and applications.

Small enough to fit snugly in a user's hand and weighing less than 10 ounces, the XM65 delivers advanced barcode scanning, full-sized 3.5" display for easy viewing, powerful computing performance and a fully rugged construction capable of surviving use in the toughest operating environments. The compact, ergonomic mobile computer is both comfortable to use and easy to deploy, offering key productivity-enhancing features such as 802.11b/g WLAN, Bluetooth, a user-accessible mini-SD card slot, backlit numeric keypad and a full suite of accessories and cradles designed for enterprise applications. The XM65 meets IP54 sealing requirements and withstands multiple 4'/1.2m drops to concrete across a wide temperature range.

A best-in-class product, the XM65 offers all of this at a list price under $1,000.

"Until now, customers for rugged mobile computers have needed to choose between performance and price," said Harry B Lerner, CEO of Janam. "The XM65 will offer customers both superior performance and remarkable prices, with no sacrifices. Increasing productivity, enhancing operating efficiencies and improving customer satisfaction with rugged mobile computers has never been more affordable."

"Businesses increasingly need powerful, flexible devices, to deploy to their workforce," said Mary Starman, group product manager for Windows Mobile at Microsoft Corp. "Microsoft's open approach to software enables the latest standards for performance. The XM65, powered by Windows Mobile, will help businesses mobilize their workforces and equip them with the applications they need to optimize productivity in the field."

Like all Janam mobile computers, the XM65 offers Janam's unique 2D scanning solution which enables users to upgrade barcode scanning capability from 1D to 1D/2D on any device at any time with a simple firmware upgrade.

The launch of the XM65, Janam's first mobile computer supporting Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system, follows the introduction of Janam's XM60, which is based on Microsoft's Windows CE operating system in the same small, light, powerful yet rugged mechanical package. Janam also offers customers the XP Series which handles applications written for the Palm OS. Janam's full suite of accessories work interchangeably with all XM Series and XP Series products, providing an efficient tool set for enterprise applications across operating platforms.
