Demodulator Subsystem simultaneously handles 9 TDMA channels.

October 3, 2008 - HX and HN Systems are enhanced via Wideband Configurable Demodulator Subsystem (CDS), featuring capability to simultaneously demodulate multiple TDMA channels on 36 MHz satellite transponder. Housed in 1 rack-unit enclosure, initial CDS implementation supports simultaneous demodulation of up to 9 channels. This promotes rack space conservation, operational flexibility, as well as power conservation for hub equipment of HX and HN Systems.

Hughes Introduces High Performance Demodulator for its Broadband Satellite Systems

Wideband Configurable Demodulator reduces power requirements and improves scalability of HX and HN Systems

GERMANTOWN, Md., Sept. 23 -- Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES, Nasdaq: HUGH), the world's leading provider of broadband satellite networks and services, today announced the introduction of its high performance Wideband Configurable Demodulator Subsystem (CDS), featuring the capability to simultaneously demodulate multiple time division multiple access (TDMA) channels on a 36 MHz satellite transponder. Housed in a compact, 1 rack unit enclosure, the initial implementation of the Wideband CDS supports the simultaneous demodulation of up to 9 channels, bringing operators significant benefits of reduced rack space, greater operational flexibility, and reduced power requirements for the hub equipment of Hughes advanced HX and HN Systems.

"The development of the Wideband CDS is another example that demonstrates Hughes leadership in technology and product development," said David Jupin, vice president at Hughes. "We are committed to continually push the envelope to bring our customers the most innovative systems that improve their competitive advantage in delivering broadband satellite services to the marketplace."

Features of the Wideband CDS include:

-- Simultaneous Demodulation
The Wideband CDS is tunable across a 36 MHz satellite transponder and can simultaneously demodulate up to 9 TDMA channels of varying symbol and coding rates. The channels received by the Wideband CDS can be any combination of symbol rates, ranging from 256 to 2,048 ksps.

-- One-Rack Unit
The Wideband CDS is housed in a compact, one-rack unit enclosure and does not require additional components, reducing hub equipment space and power requirements.

-- Easy Configuration and Installation
The Wideband CDS features GUI-based management that provides easy control of configuration and installation parameters.

-- No New Hardware Required
The Wideband CDS does not require new hardware to support it on an existing Hughes HX or HN System.

The Wideband CDS is now available with the Hughes HX System and will begin shipping with the HN System in late 2008.
