Weidmüller's IE-WLAN-BRIDGE-WAVE

WLAN-Bridge for Industrial Ethernet networks added to the WaveLine family of products

By introducing the new WLAN-BRIDGE-WAVE Weidmuller is extending its portfolio comprising the WaveLine family of products with a WLAN-Bridge for IE networks. Weidmuller developed the new WaveLine Bridge module so that serial terminal devices can be integrated in existing IE network structures. WaveLine now also allows users to utilise WLAN to connect or extend their industrial network. As is well-known from Weidmuller products their WLAN-Bridges are designed to be robust and meet the demands of industrial applications. Their compact design size for mounting rail solutions is a compelling feature. Supporting wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11 b, 802.11 g) the module IE-WLAN-BRIDGE-WAVE comes with a non-isolated RS232 interface. For user-friendly operation the module can be configured via the serial interface or a web interface - including a password-protected configuration environment. The WLAN-BRIDGE-WAVE boasts an integrated internal web server and has an extensive range of designed-in security mechanisms.

Weidmuller's product family WaveLine can now link or extend industrial networks by utilising WLAN functionality. It is a simple fact that wireless LAN can today not only be utilised anywhere where cabling does not provide an effective solution or a mobile network termination is required but also in production facilities and plant. The WaveLine WLAN-Bridge offers a suitable platform from which to gain a foothold in the world of Industrial Ethernet or it can be utilised to provide a simple method of connecting terminal devices to IE networks. The industrial-grade WLAN-BRIDGE-WAVE (degree of protection IP20) is supplied in a compactly designed plastic housing (108 mm x 22.5 mm x 127.8 mm L/W/H), flammability class VO, and can be utilised in operating temperatures ranging from 0 °C to 55 °C. Supporting the WLAN standards IEEE 802.11b/g the module facilitates disturbance free operations in production facilities. And not to forget a 10 Base-T/100 Base-TX (copper) network interface.
