Agilent Technologies Adds Higher-Power Measurement Capabilities to Growing Family of USB-Based Power Sensors

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 8, 2008 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the release of five new, higher-power members of the Agilent U2000 Series of USB-based power sensors. With the addition of these devices, the U2000 Series now covers a power range of -60 dBm to +44 dBm and a frequency range of 9 kHz to 24 GHz. Because these affordable sensors operate without power meters or external power adapters, they save bench space and simplify field work.

Each of the nine models that make up the Agilent U2000 Series is optimized for a specific frequency and power range. All include built-in triggering, which eliminates the need for external triggering modules when performing time-gated measurements or synchronizing with external instruments or events. They deliver up to 1,000 readings/s in buffered mode and include a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface for quick plug-and-play setup.

Another key feature is the "internal zeroing" capability. Zeroing can be performed without disconnecting the sensor from the device under test, thereby reducing sensor wear and test time.

These sensors can be connected directly to a PC or can be used with a variety of Agilent spectrum and network analyzers, enabling accurate average-power measurements. Bundled with Agilent's newly updated N1918A Power Analysis Manager software, the U2000 Series is a simple and powerful solution with an enhanced user interface and multiple-graph views. Multichannel measurements can be easily configured and displayed.

"This powerful combination of performance, affordability and simplicity makes the expanded U2000 Series an ideal solution for benchtop and field applications in wireless infrastructure, electronic components, and aerospace test and maintenance," said Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Basic Instruments Division.

Further Information

The five new sensors are "B" and "H" models, complementing the original U2000A models:

o U2000B: 10 MHz to 18 GHz, -30 dBm to +44 dBm

o U2000H: 10 MHz to 18 GHz, -50 dBm to +30 dBm

o U2001B: 10 MHz to 6 GHz, -30 dBm to +44 dBm

o U2001H: 10 MHz to 6 GHz, -50 dBm to +30 dBm

o U2002H: 50 MHz to 24 GHz, -50 dBm to +30 dBm

U.S. Pricing and Availability

The Agilent U2000 Series is available now. Pricing starts at $2,603. Customers may order online at www.agilent.com/find/OnlineStore.
