Rebus Recollect Desktop Allows Businesses and Consumers to Search and Retrieve PDFs, Scanned Documents, Spreadsheets, Email and More

Recollect Desktop Removes the Last Barrier to a Paperless Office

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 8 -- Rebus Technology, Inc. today introduced Recollect Desktop, the first desktop solution to allow users to search all documents including unstructured files such as scanned documents, PDFs and emails, not just by title, but by the words and images inside, even if they are misspelled or run-together.

For the first time, users can scan and organize their documents onto their hard drives and instantly find and retrieve all kinds of PDFs, TIFF, JPEG and other unstructured files. Users can scan random documents such as faxes, medical records, legal contracts, insurance and trustee forms, home mortgage reports, receipts, bills, estimates, newspaper and magazine clippings and photographs, and Recollect Desktop will quickly and easily recall and list the relevant documents, even if you can't remember where you stored them.

The program makes a computer desktop much more efficient than a filing cabinet filled with folders, and will significantly cut down on the 1.53 trillion pieces of paper that offices are producing every year.*

Today, 85 percent of content is in an unstructured format that is difficult to search, sort and organize. Recollect Desktop allows users to give structure to these types of documents, ending the painful shuffling and search process people go through as they dig into piles of misfiled papers to find the right document. The program goes a step further, finding documents that may contain misspelled or run-together words. With Recollect Desktop, there is no need to manually tag files; Recollect indexes it for you automatically.

Recollect Desktop is designed for any business that has filing cabinets and reams of stored paper documents, but is also affordable and practical for home users burdened by the amount of space that tax, medical, insurance, mortgage and school records take up.

"We've tried desktop search tools in the past and found all of them lacking in performance or accuracy or both. Recollect Desktop is powerful fuzzy search technology that finds unstructured data other solutions can't," said Chris Shipley, executive producer of the DEMO Conferences. "Recollect Desktop makes it easy for both businesses and individuals to save time and get organized by moving their files and folders onto their desktop for easy storing, quick retrieval or for disaster recovery down the road."

Rebus' new solution can help large corporations, small businesses and consumers alike. Recollect Desktop will automatically index all of this unstructured data, moving companies and the SOHO market closer and closer to a paperless office while improving overall worker efficiency.

"Previously, if you filed a PDF-image or scanned document on your computer, you could only find it if you remembered the title," said Rebus Technology Founder and President Vijay Rangarajan. "With Recollect Desktop, you can now search by any word, name, phrase or subject, just as you would search any Microsoft Word document." Recollect Desktop complements the current Rebus product line and offers a powerful solution in finding and retrieving email and paper based documents with a click of a button."

Recollect Desktop is available immediately with prices starting at $149.95. For more information visit http://www.rebustechnology.net/.
