Motor Supply Cables are optimized for flexibility, size.

August 27, 2008 - Suited for motor and drive applications requiring small OD, XTRAoGUARD cables feature round geometry that facilitates environmental sealing and symmetry that promotes electrical performance via uniform bending characteristics. SUPRASHIELDŽ EMI/RFI shielding options, PVC nylon tape, 4 symmetrical drain wires, and oil-resistant PVC jacket extend durability in demanding environments. Available in 16-6 AWG sizes, RoHS-compliant cables operate from -20 to +90°C.

Alpha Wire Company Extends Highly Successful XTRAoGUARD Range with Addition of Flexible Motor Supply Cables

Elizabeth, NJ, ... Alpha Wire Company, a leading supplier of advanced solutions and service in wire, cable and tubing, today announced that it has extended its award winning high performance XTRAoGUARD product range with the addition of flexible motor supply cables. The latest addition will compliment the existing, high-performance, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) product line and is ideally suited to motor and drive applications requiring small outer diameter, flexibility and ease of handling as well as superior EMI/RFI shielding options using the company's popular SUPRASHIELDŽ.

Designed to be more flexible, smaller and less expensive than the VFD cables, the new motor supply range boasts a round geometry to facilitate environmental sealing, while the symmetrical design improves the electrical performance allowing the cable to exhibit uniform bending characteristics. The cables also employ Alpha's SUPRASHIELDŽ and have PVC nylon tape, four symmetrical drain wires and a specially formulated oil resistant PVC jacket making them extremely durable in the most demanding of environments.

As part of the XTRAoGUARD cables range the motor supply cables line incorporates the hazard matched, extreme performance characteristics typically associated with this line and are available in a range of gauge sizes from 16 AWG to 6 AWG with larger custom cables available on request. The new range meets a plethora of safety and installation ratings, including:

o UL Standard 1277, Type TC-ER, 90°C, 600

o UL Oil Res I

o UL Exposed Run (-ER)

o CSA AWM I A/B II A/B

o UL Standard 1063, Type MTW, 90°C, 600 Volt

o CSA FT4 Flame test

o UL Direct burial

o UL 1581 Vertical tray flame test

o UL Sunlight resistant

o Operating temperature range of -20°C to +90°C for static applications

o RoHS compliant

"Typically the new motor supply range will be used for AC Drives and Servo motors in applications such as medical, robotic, packaging, welding and conveying, although they are ideally suited to all types of automation environments," said Dave Watson, Director of Engineering at Alpha Wire Company. "Its introduction to the XTRAoGUARD' family range underlines our commitment to develop and supply the very best in extreme performance cable. This ensures that we are able to continue delivering robust and reliable cable solutions whatever the application, whatever the environment."
