Featuring advanced 3D with HSM enhancement, GibbsCAM® SolidSurfacer includes toolpath strategies optimized for high-speed and hard material machining. Program supports tapered tool shapes, multi-surface flowline machining, 3D rest or material-only machining, and automatic filleting of surface to avoid sharp concave corners. Software also enables direct machining of imported STL files and provides automatic core/cavity detection for inside-out or outside-in milling.

Gibbs to Demonstrate Advanced 3D with HSM Enhancement at IMTS 2008
New Powerful Capabilities Released as Part of the GibbsCAM SolidSurfacer Module
MOORPARK, California, August 25/-Cimatron Limited (NASDAQ: CIMT), a leading provider of
integrated CAD/CAM solutions for the toolmaking and manufacturing industries, announced today of a new enhancement in its GibbsCAM(R) product that will be showcased at IMTS 2008. The enhancement introduces a complete range of advanced 3-axis milling functionality for the GibbsCAM SolidSurfacer with support for high-speed machining (HSM). IMTS is being held at the McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois on September 8th - 13th, 2008.

Advanced 3D with HSM enhancement for SolidSurfacer(R) includes:
- Toolpath strategies optimized for high speed and hard material machining
- 3D rest or material-only machining
- Support for tapered tool shapes
- New types of finishing processes including constant step-over and steep-shallow combination
- Multi-surface flowline machining
- Improved toolpath quality with smooth corners, stepovers and arc fitting
- Improved use of boundaries and precise control of machining area
- Enhanced entry/exit control with blends and optimized clearance moves
- Direct machining of imported STL files
- Automatic Core/Cavity detection for inside out or outside in milling
- Operation splitting for tool wear and for optimal length out of holder
- Multi-threaded for multi-CPU machines and to support batch toolpath generation
- Automatic filleting of a surface to avoid sharp concave corners
Enhancements introduced across the entire product line with the latest release of GibbsCAM will also be demonstrated at IMTS 2008.
