Taipei, Taiwan-August 18, 2008-Synology® Inc. today announced the formal release of its 4-bay Disk Station model, the ultra-high performance yet energy-saving DS408. The DS408 is equipped with an 800 MHz CPU and 512MB RAM, and packed with the brand new rich-featured Synology Disk Station Manager 2.0 software.

"Compared with an average PC found on the current market, instead of burning an outrageous 200W, DS408 only calls for a relatively low power consumption of approximately 40W under normal operation with four hard drives installed."
Practicing Synology's emphasis on energy saving, the DS408 supports schedule power on-and-off based on individual preferences. Total power consumption drops to null when appliance stays in off-mode condition. All results are to reify Synology's responsibility as a global citizen.
