ATTO Technology Unveils Newest Member of ExpressSAS Family

New offerings provide 16-ports of SAS/SATA connectivity

Amherst, NY - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, today announced the introduction of the newest member of the ExpressSAS RAID adapter (http://www.attotech.com/sashostadapte...) product family, the ExpressSAS R30F. The R30F expands upon ATTO's previous offerings by providing 16 internal ports of SAS/SATA II connectivity, making it the ideal SAS RAID adapter for both IT and digital media applications requiring flexible connectivity options and a high degree of data protection. Examples of applications benefiting from the high performance of the R30F include: high-definition video post-production, digital film production, digital prepress, tape backup, audio production, e-mail compliance, data warehousing and data mining.

Featuring a half-height form factor, the R30F RAID adapter utilizes PCI Express bus technology to deliver blazing fast 3-Gb per second performance. Since the R30F provides up to 16 internal ports of connectivity by utilizing an on-board expander, the need for a separate expander is eliminated in many applications. Additionally, support for ATTO's exclusive Advanced Data Streaming (ADS(TM)) Technology helps the ExpressSAS R30F deliver the performance necessary to handle multiple layers of complex, uncompressed real-time effects and edit high-definition video by efficiently managing latency and controlling the acceleration of data transfers.

The ExpressSAS R30F RAID adapter utilizes ATTO's recently released ExpressSAS firmware v2.20. The latest version offers several new features which improve the reliability, usability and performance of ExpressSAS products. Improved media error handling serves to minimize workflow interruptions caused by imperfect media, while enhanced SCSI Enclosure Services (SES) support allows users to monitor potential problems associated with an attached enclosure. Other improvements made in v2.20 help ensure that the performance of the R30F is not impacted during the rebuild process. By delivering these enhancements, v2.20 combines with the R30F to make the fastest and most versatile solution for a wide variety of high-performance applications.

"Today's announcement of the release of the ExpressSAS R30F significantly expands upon the breadth and depth of the ExpressSAS product family and reaffirms ATTO's commitment to developing high-performance SAS/SATA products," states Ed Tierney, director of marketing at ATTO Technology. "When combined with the recent release of the ExpressSAS H30F host adapter, and ExpressSAS v2.20 firmware, our SAS product offerings deliver a wide-variety of solutions to meet any number of customer needs. By providing blazing-fast throughput, ATTO ExpressSAS products are the ideal solution for transactional database applications, e-mail servers and large server farms, in addition to demanding video environments."
