Four New, Robust Industrial Ethernet Switches Join WAGO's Ethernet Portfolio

GERMANTOWN, WI - July 2008 - WAGO Corporation's new 852 Series of Ethernet switches provides a wide range of scalable solutions for network infrastructures. The 852 Series ranges from simple Ethernet switches to configurable, multifunction Ethernet communication switches. Features such as a rugged housing give all 852 Series switches an operating temperature of 0°C to 60°C, vibration resistance (acc. to IEC 60068-2-6) and shock resistance (acc. to IEC 60068-2-27), ensuring the switches can withstand rigorous industrial environments.

"The 852 Series of industrial-grade Ethernet switches is dedicated to optimizing network performance," said Mark DeCramer, Product Manager - WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM. "In addition to solid mechanical properties, they feature excellent electrical characteristics including function monitoring and redundant voltage supplies ranging from 9 to 48 V."

852-104 Leads Comprehensively Equipped 852 Series Variants:

o 852-101 5-Port 100BASE-TX Industrial Switch

o 852-102 8-Port 100BASE-TX Industrial Switch

o 852-103 8-Port 100BASE-TX + 2-Slot 100BASE-FX Industrial Switch including two additional SFP module ports (small form-factor pluggable for connecting fiber optic cables)

o 852-104 7-Port 100BASE-TX + 2-Slot 100BASE-FX Industrial Managed Switch

The 852-101, -102 and -103 switches are equipped with: a DIP switch for enabling alarm functions; compliance with IEEE 802.3 and 802.3u standards; non-blocking, store-and-forward switching; auto-negotiation on all 10/100BaseTX ports and auto-MDI/MDIX (crossover) on all 10/100BaseTX ports. Operational status LEDs are also included.

The top-tier 852-104 switch builds on these features by adding: Web-based/SNMP management; full compliance with IEEE 802.3x, 802.1d, 802.1q, and 802.1p standards; Xpress Ring; VLAN (802.1q) VID; IGMP snooping for multicast filtering; port configuration, status and statistics; port trunking and SNMP v1/v2 with RMON.

"The Xpress Ring found in the 852-104 allows the redundant ring to be configured, enabling a reconfiguration in less than 50ms in the event of a primary link failure," DeCramer said. "An additional benefit: Failures can be reported via e-mail."

Extensive Ethernet Networking Options:

The 852 Series Ethernet Switches are compatible with other WAGO Ethernet solutions such as the 750-975 RJ-45 Ethernet Connector and the 289 Series of DIN-rail mountable Interface Modules. The versatile RJ-45 connector provides gas-tight, pull-out and vibration-resistant connections for industrial, office and building wiring. The 289 Series of Ethernet Interface modules feature variable shield screen-style connections for additional networking convenience.

WAGO is the worldwide leader in spring pressure connection technology that eliminates loose wires as a result of vibration and temperature cycling, as well as provides highly reliable, corrosion-resistant and maintenance-free connections. Our complete line of spring pressure connection products includes: DIN-rail mount terminal blocks, chassis mount terminal blocks, PCB mount terminal blocks, relays, signal conditioners, power supplies, surge suppressors, the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM and more.
