The OYSTAR USA Process Division Offers the Patented AccuSpray(TM) Spray Gun Module for Coating and Lubricating Tablet Surfaces

OYSTAR Manesty AccuSpray Significantly Reduces Amounts of Magnesium Stearate Used in Tablet Formulations

Fairfield, NJ - The OYSTAR USA Process Division, which is responsible for all sales, service and support in North America for OYSTAR Manesty and OYSTAR Huttlin pharmaceutical processing equipment, offers the recently developed, patented OYSTAR Manesty AccuSpray(TM) magnesium stearate spray system. The AccuSpray nozzle applies a thin, uniform layer of magnesium stearate, a commonly used pharmaceutical excipient, to coat and lubricate tablet surfaces and prevent them from sticking to compression tools during manufacturing.

The AccuSpray technology reduces the amount of magnesium stearate used from an average of 100 grams per production hour to as little as 4 grams per hour at full production speed. This reduction provides a cost savings for manufacturers, and produces tablets that are of greater purity and higher quality than those containing larger amounts of magnesium stearate. Furthermore, the force used in the compression machine to eject tablets is reduced, resulting in less wear and tear for a longer lasting machine.

The AccuSpray process involves non-continuous spraying of a 10% magnesium stearate/ pure ethanol solution onto the upper and lower punch tips as well as the die wall. A patented high-speed Piezo electric pump ensures exact metering of the substance and keeps production rates constant. The magnesium film completely encloses the tablets and comprises only 0.03% of the tablet weight.

The module can be set up quickly and features a user-friendly operating console that supports process control and parameter configuration. The AccuSpray module is currently available for tablet presses that are part of the OYSTAR Manesty Xpress Series.

OYSTAR USA Process Division Vice President, Nic Michel, says, "AccuSpray is the only magnesium stearate application system that validates the amount of stearate sprayed on each tablet. It also helps to keep the press clean thanks to its non-continuous operating mode."

OYSTAR USA offers customers a complete support service hotline that can be reached easily by calling toll-free 888-868-9031.

The OYSTAR USA Process Division offers processing solutions for the pharmaceutical industry through OYSTAR Manesty Tablet Presses and Coaters and OYSTAR Huttlin Granulation and Fluid Bed Systems. In addition to the Process Division, OYSTAR USA is comprised of a Pharmaceutical Packaging Division and a Food Packaging Division. Germany-based OYSTAR is a group of companies dedicated to the processing and packaging needs of the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, dairy, and food industries.

The OYSTAR USA Process Division is based in Fairfield, NJ. For more information please call 973-227-5575 or visit the web site at www.oystarusa.com.
