Dock Leveler Conversion Kit contributes to dock safety.

Blue Giant Introduces New Mini-Dok Comfort Series Edge-of-Dock Levelers

Brampton, Ontario - June 2008 - Blue Giant has developed a new line of mechanical and hydraulic edge-of-dock levelers with capacities from 20,000 to 30,000 pounds (9,100 to 13,600 kg) that are easy to operate and provide smooth top-plate transitions.

The new MD Comfort Series hydraulic levelers feature dual, maintenance-free cylinders to operate the deck and lip. The cylinders and motor come prefitted to the edge-of-dock assembly. The leveler is operated with a rugged, remote-mounted, single-push-button NEMA 4 control station. The MD-CH levelers are available in 72-inch (178-cm) and 78-inch (198-cm) widths with a 30,000-pound (13,600 kg) operating capacity and working range of five inches (13 cm) above to five inches (13 cm) below dock level.

The new MD Comfort Series mechanical levelers feature a spring-balanced lifting system that is easily operated with a comfort-grip handle that also functions as a maintenance stand. The MD-CM levelers are available in 66-inch, 72-inch, and 78-inch (168-cm, 183-cm, and 198-cm) widths with up to 30,000-pound (13,600 kg) operating capacities and working ranges of five inches (13 cm) above to five inches (13 cm) below dock level. Adjustable torsion-spring balance system and comfort-grip handle make deployment easy and allow the operator to maintain balanced control.

"The Blue Giant Mini-Dok Comfort Series levelers are ideally suited for installations where pit levelers are not feasible or where standard fleet bed heights are serviced at the loading dock," reports Steve Greco, Director of Sales & Marketing. "The MD-C Series levelers are easily installed to the dock face providing an efficient self-storing docking unit and replacing the need for cumbersome and unsafe portable dock plates. In addition, they are stocked in strategic locations across the USA for quick and cost-effective delivery."

Both the hydraulic and mechanical Mini-Dok levelers feature a lifting hole in the lip for quick and easy handling by the installer, one-piece continuous front and rear hinges, lip bevels to protect cargo and materials-handling equipment, and two molded rubber bumpers to protect buildings and docks from damage. Deck and lip plates are made of premium-grade 50,000 psi (35 kg/mm2) minimum-yield four-way diamond tread plate, and the back beam is made from heavy-duty 3/8-inch (9.5 mm) by six-inch (152 mm) steel. Grease fittings on 25,000-pound (11,300-kg) and 30,000-pound (13,600-kg) units permit lubrication to minimize operational friction and keep the leveler operating smoothly.

Blue Giant is a global leader in dock equipment, including hydraulic and mechanical dock levelers, vertical storing docks, dock lifts, dock safety systems, and dock seals and shelters.
