DeWAL Offers PTFE-Coated Tape for Machinery Rollers

DeWAL pressure-sensitive tape in demand for calendering and extruding rollers

SAUNDERSTOWN, RI, July 1, 2008 - DeWAL Industries, Inc. is manufacturing a new and improved PTFE tape that drastically reduces friction and wear on high speed extrusion coating equipment.

This pressure sensitive tape combines a filled PTFE (Teflon®) film, which enhances key performance characteristics, coated with a DeWAL high temperature silicone adhesive. It has extremely high tensile strength, increased wear properties and high temperature resistance.

"This is unlike any of our other PTFE tapes on the market," said Christopher Brooks, DeWAL's Director of Sales and Marketing. "We developed it for a specific aviation/aerospace maintenance application, but with continuous improvement we have been able to make it a cost-efficient option for coating rollers in the extrusion coating industry and other roller applications".

It is now being used to wrap rollers that produce polyethylene coatings and laminations, rollers that calender paper, and rollers that revolve at very high speeds and high temperatures in classified industries. Temperature tolerance is up to 500°F (260°C).

DeWAL DW 663 is manufactured at DeWAL's Rhode Island facility in widths from 0.25" to 20" (6.35mm to 508mm) in 36 yard (32.9m) lengths. D/W 663 is orange/brown in color.

All D/W 663 is tested according to ASTM standards and meets RoHS criteria. DeWAL is ISO 9001:2000 registered.

Since its founding in 1974, DeWAL Industries has become a leader in the manufacture of skived PTFE and UHMW-PE film. DeWAL manufactures pressure sensitive tapes from PTFE, UHMW-PE, Polyimide, and PTFE coated glass fabric. DeWAL also manufactures Poro-Tex® and UniPore® specialty films that provide unique combinations of porosity, chemical resistance and heat resistance for filtration and venting applications.
