Software Makes Industrial Reporting Easier for Plant Personnel
Sacramento, CA WorkSmart Automation announces the release of ReportBuilder(TM) 2008 Edition; the latest version of its popular Microsoft Office based reporting tool for building reports for use with Industrial SCADA andHMI systems.
ReportBuilder(TM) is a Microsoft Excel Add-in reporting solution that supports connections to many different data sources including classic historical log files generatedby Wonderware InTouch, GE Fanuc FIX32, GE Fanuc iFIX, and newer industrial Historians like Wonderware Historian (formerly InSQL) and GE Fanuc Proficy Historian (formerly iHistorian). ReportBuilder(TM) also connects to custom MS Access and MS SQL Server databases that systems like Rockwell Automation's RSView, RS SQL, and RSBizWare can log data to.
With ReportBuilder(TM) one workbook report is configured that can report for any time frame where data exists. Once a report is configured, the user has the ability to call up different dates or pan backward or forward to the particular time interval of interest --making it easy for operators to compare the same report data for a year earlier, or a month earlier, or an hour earlier, and so on.
Since its inception, ReportBuilder(TM) has changed the way end-users approach reporting. "We are seeing end-users capitalizing on the knowledge of their own historical data and making better process decisions. What was once a difficult and time consuming task has now become an everyday routine for operators and managers. Placing easy to use reporting tools in the hands of operators and managers can help a plant or factory floor identify problem in their process that would otherwise go unnoticed." says Dan Jones, President of WorkSmart Automation.
New features to ReportBuilder(TM) 2008 Edition include:
Tag Filters- provide the ability for each user to search for application tags and then save the results to be retrieved easily from sessionto session-- simplifying the way operators and managers find and retrieve their historical tag variables.
Time & Date Functions Library- provides a library of seventeen different time and date related functions along with an easy to use interface for inserting thse functions into an Excel worksheet. Time and date functions provide useful dates and information that can be used in other report functions. A few examples include functions for getting the last day of the month, the first day of the quarter, the number of days in a month, the difference in time between two date values, and an array of evenly spaced dates anchored to the report span.
Automatic Range Selection- evaluates the number of records returned by a function and will offer users the choice of selecting the required Excel workshet range to display the entire results of the function-great for making quick ad-hoc reports.
Automatic Time/Date Formatting- automatically displays the Excel Format Cells window after a user inserts a ReportBuilder(TM) function that includes a date/time stamp in its returned value.
Sample Application and Reports- a sample ReportBuilder(TM) application can be installed that includes sample reports and data.
