Zilog Unveils Crimzon Connects(TM): The Industry's First Easy, Intelligent Home Control Solution for Apple® iPhone(TM) and Blackberry® Curve(TM) Users

- Using an iPhone(TM), Blackberry(R) Curve(TM) or Any WiFi Enabled Device, The Crimzon Connects(TM) Solution Allows Consumers to Control a Broad Range of Devices, Including TVs, DVD players, Stereos, Lights, HVAC and Home Security Systems

- Crimzon Connects(TM) Features Zilog's Industry-Leading Universal Infra-red Database

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 8 -- Zilog, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZILG), a leading supplier of embedded system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for consumer and industrial applications, and an industry leader in remote control and universal IR database solutions, today announced a new paradigm in the rapidly growing home control market that provides the consumer with a complete and easy intelligent home control solution. The new Crimzon Connects(TM) platform represents the first comprehensive digital home/office control and monitoring solution in the marketplace. Based on Zilog's industry leading remote control capability, Crimzon Connects(TM) provides consumers and small business owners a new level of command and control over their homes and offices. With its built-in wireless and wired connectivity interfaces, Crimzon Connects(TM) makes it easy to remotely access and control your home or office electronic devices from any WiFi enabled device, such as a laptop, smart phone or intelligent connected remote control.

"The rise in anytime, anywhere connectivity has created a desire by consumers and businesses to be connected and in control of their homes and offices," said Michelle Leyden Li, general manager of Zilog's new Home Control business unit. "We've all been living with the dream of one remote control to control everything in the house, but until now, there has been no easy, intelligent device for command and control of the home or office environment. Crimzon Connects(TM) allows you to control on site or remotely virtually any device in and around the home or office via a device you already have such as a laptop PC or a browser-based smart phone such as Apple's iPhone(TM). It marries diverse appliances and devices into a seamless, unified home/office control environment accessible through a simple user interface anytime, anywhere in the world."

Industry analysts expect rapid growth in consumer demand for easy, intelligent home control solutions, a demand driven by the need for energy savings, better power management, the desire for greater home safety, and the desire to reduce the complexity of current home/office control solutions.

Unlike other solutions in the market today, the Crimzon Connects(TM) platform supports both web-enabled and native application-based options. Zilog is focused on creating easy-to-use consumer interfaces for remote control and monitoring. The current solution offers user-friendly consumer interface applications for the Apple(R) iPhone(TM) and iPod(R) touch as well as the Blackberry(R) Curve(TM). Future versions will support other web-enabled mobile phone platforms, providing a new degree of accessibility, flexibility, and choice previously unavailable to consumers.

Crimzon Connects(TM) supports multiple connectivity interfaces, including WiFi to IR, RF, Z-Wave, and X10 control. CE manufacturers can easily add IR and RF control to their existing products. An eZ80AcclaimPlus!(TM)-based live home web server provides the central point of access to all devices in the home or office.

"The response from customers to Crimzon Connects(TM) following our 'sneak preview' demonstration at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas has been incredible," noted Keith Bladen, vice president of marketing. "By harnessing the power of Crimzon Connects(TM) and the Zilog ZBase(R) codeset database, our customers will have access to one of the most complete lists of consumer UIR products in the world."

The Crimzon Connects(TM) platform is backed by Zilog's industry-leading ZBase(R) code database, which is the leading UIR database in the industry. Now equipped with its new Z-Pic(TM) functionality, the ZBase(R) server is even simpler to program and set-up due to its web-based visual interface.

"By taking advantage of our Z-Pic(TM) feature, consumers will be able to easily program all their home entertainment devices with little effort, and be able to control everything with any web-enabled or application-driven device, such as an iPhone(TM) or Blackberry(R)," added Steve Pope, Senior Architect. "The whole Crimzon Connects(TM) solution is really your best choice for an easy, portable, all-in-one solution for intelligent home control."

"With our comprehensive solution, manufacturers can give consumers unified remote access to electrical meters, lights, HVAC systems, security systems, water heater and/or entertainment systems," noted Leyden Li. "With Crimzon Connects(TM), consumers can be proactive in saving energy and protecting their loved ones without lifting more than a finger to do it thanks to easy accessibility through any web-enabled devices."
