Agilent Technologies Introduces Low-Cost DC Power Supplies with Features Typical of Costly Models

SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 7, 2008 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced the U8000 Series single-output, non-programmable DC power supplies, a low-cost expansion of the best-selling Agilent E3600 Series. Beyond cost savings, these DC power supplies offer excellent value with features that are typical only in costly programmable models. With power ranging from 90 W to 150 W, they are suitable for a variety of electronics-manufacturing applications and provide reliable, affordable power for educational uses.

The U8000 Series offers fully integrated overvoltage and overcurrent protection features that provide comprehensive damage prevention for devices-under-test. During test setup, users can save and recall up to three memory states, minimizing manual errors and increasing efficiency. The series also offers excellent load and line regulation, fast transient response and low output noise.

Agilent's U8000 Series also includes security features uncommon in standard power supplies. One example is a keypad lock, which prevents measurement errors due to accidental or unauthorized front-panel use. Another is a physical lock mechanism that secures instrument storage and is especially useful on manufacturing floors and in education labs.

"Agilent power supplies have an excellent reputation for reliability, quality and high performance, and have traditionally been regarded as high-end products," said Ee Huei-Sin, vice president of Agilent's Basic Instruments Division. "With the new U8000 Series, customers can now own a high-quality, feature-rich Agilent power supply at an affordable price."

U.S. Pricing and Availability

The Agilent U8000 Series power supplies are available in Asia, the Americas and Japan, and will be available in Europe on July 28. Pricing is as follows:

o U8001A 90 W, 0-30 V, 3 A power supplies: $295

o U8002A 150 W, 0-30 V, 5 A power supplies: $370

About Agilent Technologies' Low-Cost Instruments

An increasing number of field engineers and technicians worldwide are asking for measurement instruments that can be easily transported for installation and maintenance activities. To meet these needs, instruments must have three key attributes: mobility, accuracy and affordability.

Agilent's low-cost instrument initiative is focused on providing high-value test equipment in these key areas. Products include bench, handheld and modular devices such as basic power supplies, benchtop and handheld digital multimeters, handheld oscilloscopes, USB data acquisition devices, Agilent VEE software, and connectivity gateways. The industry has taken note: The Agilent U1600A Series of oscilloscopes was voted Product of the Year by readers of Elektronik magazine, and the Agilent U1250A Series of digital multimeters was named an EDN Hot 100 Product and analogZONE's Best Value Portable Test Equipment.
