Podmailing®: The Web Service to Send Several Giga-Bytes of Data by Email Official Launch in the US
Podmailing(R) Launches in the US to Transfer Large Files by Email Faster With P2P and a Centralized Scalable Infrastructure
PARIS, July 1/ --Podmailing(R) is a service enabling to send and receive any
size file by email. It is even easier to use than classic email, it does not require to change email account or to get a new address, and it does not clog your inbox.
After a two-year phase of beta-testing in Europe, the service is launched in the US based on an innovative virtual infrastructure that can scale as fast as required thanks to Amazon Web Services.
Podmailing competes with many companies providing file transfer services but it brings a genuinely new touch which sets it apart from all others:
- Podmailing mixes a very simple and lightweight email application (Windows XP/Vista & MacOS X) with a centralized infrastructure for high quality of service
- Podmailing is 100% compatible with the BitTorrent protocol
- Podmailing infrastructure is entirely virtual, based on Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) and Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service)
- Podmailing software is not required in order to receive files, they can also be downloaded straight from any browser, or using any BitTorrent client
- Our network is not closed, it is open to other clients and servers
- Podmailing has no size limit
Louis Choquel, creator of Podmailing(R) and CEO of zSlide(R) explains:
"With the digital media revolution, it has become really painful that email cannot be used to send large files above 20MB. There are many ways to share media on the Web but for most people, emailing is the first solution that comes to mind when you have files to send to someone."
"The solution we have designed to enable large file transfers is entirely based on open standards such as http and BitTorrent so it easily handles files and folders above several giga-bytes. And developers can make compatible software and services to participate in this new network and join us in changing the rules of e-mail."
