Sipera Simplifies SIP Trunking, Enhances Security for Unified Communications
Real-Time Security Solutions Deploy Seamlessly with SIP Trunk Providers, Ease Avaya Teleworker and Mobility Deployments
RICHARDSON, Texas, June 24 -- Sipera Systems, the leader in real-time Unified Communications (UC) security, today announced its Sipera IPCS(TM) security appliances have been upgraded to advance security for SIP trunking and better integrate with SIP trunk provider services. The Sipera VIPER Engine, the core security engine for Sipera IPCS appliances, has likewise been upgraded to more quickly address the latest vulnerabilities and threats, adding the capability to download security signatures automatically, and enhanced anomaly detection capabilities against zero day attacks. And, for enterprises adopting Avaya teleworker and mobile solutions, enhanced IPCS functionality allows them to simply and securely deploy mobile workspaces.
For enterprises utilizing SIP trunks to connect to their service providers, Sipera not only offers comprehensive security for these SIP trunks, but also addresses key deployment issues by offering additional Session Border Control (SBC) functionality. The upgraded Sipera IPCS appliances have been integrated with Tier-1 SIP trunk providers, and offer Quality of Service (QoS) reporting, enabling network administrators to monitor latency, jitter and packet delay for critical UC applications, and identify bandwidth spikes that might indicate an attack or other anomalies.
"Many enterprises today are embracing Unified Communications because they see it playing a key role in increasing the productivity of their organization. What some overlook, however, are the security issues that arise any time an enterprise application is connected to the Internet," said Matthias Machowinski, Infonetics Research Directing Analyst, Enterprise Voice & Data. "In order to realize the benefits of UC without increasing security risks, enterprises need to add security to their infrastructure that protects against threats in real-time."
"As companies extend Unified Communications beyond the enterprise perimeter to allow SIP trunking and mobility solutions, they require sophisticated and comprehensive security from a dedicated UC security provider," said Eric Winsborrow, Chief Marketing Officer for Sipera Systems. "Sipera's comprehensive UC security provides threat protection, policy enforcement, access control, and privacy measures, along with the ability to simplify the deployment of SIP trunks and mobile workspaces. Sipera IPCS threat protection is backed by the expertise of and ongoing signature updates from Sipera VIPER Lab to ensure complete protection in real-time."
New Sipera IPCS functionality to simplify the deployment of Avaya teleworker and mobile solutions include:
-- Certificate provisioning proxy for improved access control;
-- HTTP/TFTP proxy for web services and configuration, and LDAP proxy for directory services, for faster and easier deployment of remote phones;
-- TLS/SRTP proxy for encryption, further ensuring communications privacy; and
-- Network, device, user, domain, and time of day granular policy enforcement.
The Sipera IPCS products are comprehensive, real-time Unified Communications security solutions that simplify and protect VoIP and UC over any network and to any device. Backed by the extensive vulnerability research of Sipera VIPER Lab, the Sipera IPCS(TM) products provide threat protection, policy enforcement, access control, and privacy in a single, real-time appliance. The product family spans four systems supporting 200 to 50,000 users.
