Bourns Expands Trimpot Product Line with 2mm Sealed Single-Turn Trimming Potentiometer

Industry's First Trimmer Available in 10, 20 and 50 Ohm Total Resistance Values for Applications Requiring Small Resistance Corrections

RIVERSIDE, Calif., June 4, 2008 - Bourns, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, today announced the availability of a new 2 millimeter (mm) sealed single-turn trimming potentiometer (trimmer). Designated the Model 3312, it is the industry's first trimmer available in 10, 20 and 50 ohm resistance values for applications requiring small resistance corrections. The Bourns Model 3312 is the latest addition to the company's existing line of Trimpot single-turn surface mount trimmers, which include Model 3313 (3mm), Model 3314 (4mm) and Model 3361 (6mm), designed to meet varying design requirements of power rating and physical size.

"With the release of our new sealed trimmer, Bourns can offer its customers a superior and previously-unavailable alternative to open-frame trimmers," said Emill Melliz, potentiometer product line manager at Bourns. "By achieving tighter electrical, environmental and mechanical specifications, the Model 3312 is an optimal solution to meet the needs of high-end products that demand high reliability."

Bourns' Model 3312 offers improved electrical and environmental characteristics in comparison to open-frame trimmers. Since it is sealed, it is able to withstand standard water wash processes unlike an open-frame trimmer. It is also well-suited to space-constrained applications requiring high reliability such as hearing aids, bar code scanners, laser diodes, proximity switches, encoders, sensors and detectors, handheld machine tools, LCDs and touch screen systems, intercom systems and flow/temperature pressure measurement products.
