Sullins Adds 0.050" Headers to Expanding Interconnect Portfolio

High-Density Male and Female Parts Provide Unsurpassed Design Flexibility in High-Density Applications

San Marcos, CA, June 17, 2008...Announced today by Sullins Connector Solutions, a global leader in the design and manufacture of board level interconnects, are male and female 0.050" (1.27mm) board-to-board connectors engineered for higher signal density in space-constrained applications. Offered in single- and dual-row configurations, and in plated through hole (PTH) and surface mount (SMT) versions, the RoHS-compliant parts may be ordered with straight or right-angle dip-solder terminations. Moreover, they are available in specifiable pin lengths, and insulator height options to provide OEMs and assembliers with unparalleled design flexibility and manufacturing efficiencies. The female versions are supplied with high-temperature liquid crystal polymer (LCP) insulators, while the male parts feature Nylon 9T insulators. Materials are UL94V-0 rated and withstand high SMT solder-reflow temperatures. Parts are compatible with lead-free RoHS reflow processes up to 260 degrees C peak, and meet the requirements for operating in the temperature range of -40 degrees C to + 105 degrees C.

Sullins' new 0.050" centerline parts are specifically engineered for employment in a wide range of high-density applications in which board spacing, and total weight needs be minimized. Boasting superior signal performance to ensure the reliability and integrity of connections, they may be confidently specified for general industrial and commercial applications, and are commonly used on PCBs in testing and process control, telecommunications, computer, and security systems.

The new male and female headers feature a current rating of 1 A per contact, and are offered with one row of contacts ranging from 1 to 50 contacts, and in two-row versions with up to 100 contacts. Male devices are provided standard with overall gold flash plated brass contacts, whereas female parts are supplied with overall gold flash plated phosphor bronze contacts. Dual-row versions may be ordered with or without guideposts. Overall tail lengths are available from 0.050" (1.27mm) to 2.500" (63.50mm). For complete specifications regarding operating, processing, temperature and material options for Sullins' 0.050" headers, contact techsupport@sullinscorp.com.

Average pricing for Sullins' male and female 0.050" (1.27mm) headers ranges from $0.035 to $.058 per pin in production quantities. While delivery is 3 to 4 weeks ARO, samples are immediately available.
