First Portable Software Solution to Support ITU-T G.8031 Standard

OTTAWA, June 10 -- AFORE Solutions, Inc. a leader in the design and delivery of technology solutions for network equipment providers today announced its InterPort(TM) Ethernet Protection software which allows equipment providers to improve the robustness and reliability of their Ethernet product offerings.

"AFORE's InterPort Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching software supports the ITU-T G.8031 standard to enable Ethernet transport networks to be as resilient as SONET networks, providing the reliability of 1:1 and/or 1+1 protection and rapid protection switching to a backup path in case of link or node failure."

Operating over predefined primary and alternate transport paths InterPort automatically switches to alternate paths on link or node failures enabling suppliers of Ethernet platforms to provide the resilient connectivity for mission critical applications. In addition, InterPort Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching solutions integrate seamlessly with the AFORE InterPort Service OAM (802.1ag/Y.1731) software module.

AFORE's InterPort software modules offer a platform independent solution which can be incorporated in systems ranging from enterprise backbones, Ethernet access products and switching systems, broadband access and wireless backhaul infrastructure equipment.

The new InterPort Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching software with full linear protection enables enterprises and carriers to provide resilient and predictable networking utilizing their existing infrastructure platforms. Future InterPort releases will extend the linear APS capabilities and incorporate Ethernet Ring Protection in accordance with the evolving G.8032 standard.
