New Remstar Automated Tool Drawer Carousel can recover 56% Floor Space in Industrial Equipment Operations
The new Remstar automated tool drawer carousel can store the equivalent of 66 tool drawer cabinets in just 56% of the floor space, allowing industrial equipment operations to expand internally. The Remstar automated tool drawer carousel will be on display during IMTS 2008 in Chicago September 8-13 in Remstar booth #2636.
The Remstar automated tool drawer carousel consists of an oval track with rotating bins (sections of shelving) containing shelves and RemStore totes that deliver stored items to the operator. Using Remstar horizontal carousels in combination with RemStore totes provides maximum density tool storage in a fraction of the space. Using an average storage location size of 4" x 4", the Remstar automated tool drawer carousel can provide over 23,000 storage locations.
One carousel can be used independently or groups of two or more creates a workstation pod. This allows an operator to pick from one active automated tool drawer carousel while the others are pre-positioning to be picked the moment the operator is ready. Production schedules are often tight in industrial equipment operations and searching for the stored material is costly and prohibitive. Using Remstar automated tool drawer carousel virtually eliminates operator walk and search time, increasing productivity by up to 2/3.
All Remstar automated tool drawer carousels can be integrated with one of many QuickPick® pick-to-light technologies providing dramatic reduction in search time and increasing accuracy. The QuickPick Position Indicator (QPi), a light bar is mounted in front of the automated tool drawer carousel and moves vertically up and down to position itself above or below the shelf level. When a pick is ready, the QPI indicates the exact location to pick from by pointing directly to the tote displaying the quantity to be picked, the part number and description. This creates pinpoint accuracy for the operator resulting in 99.9%+ pick accuracy levels.
Integrating Cribmaster® or FastPic® inventory control software with the Remstar automated tool drawer carousel provides further control over tool, dies and fixtures. Standard and custom reports allow managers 100% inventory visibility, providing answers to the who, what, where and when inventory questions. In addition, the software can provide re-order level reports ensuring that parts are always in stock when they are needed.
