HARTING mCon 1000: Automation IT Switch with Management Functionalities for Special Tasks

HARTING's new mCon 1000 product line enables network solutions where the availability of the facility is a high priority. The mCon 1000 series is particularly well suited for communication network environments, power distribution stations, wind turbine power plants and similar applications.

The managed Ethernet switch supports Ethernet (10 Mbit/sec), Fast Ethernet (100 Mbit/sec) and Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbit/sec). Up to eleven Ethernet stations can be connected with shielded twisted-pair cable and fibre-optic cable. The mCon 1052-ASFP and mCon 1083-ASFP Ethernet Switches make it possible to adapt the application's fibre-optic interface with the appropriate plug-in modules (e.g. SFP modules). This underscores the cost effectiveness and the flexibility of the products.

Management takes place with simple centralized configuration and administration by means of a Web interface, SNMP, or Telnet. Some of the implemented features include Rapid Spanning Tree, Radius, prioritization and SNMP traps. During servicing, a Ethernet Switch can be replaced and a backup of the configuration can be saved to an (optional) memory card. The memory cards have their own unique MAC addresses. Thus the replacement of a mCon switch does not influence network topology or network administration.
