Vishay's New Automotive Precision Thin Film Chip Resistor Array Is Tested According to AEC-Q200 and Offers 1000-V ESD Stability

Device Offers Film Temperature up to +155°C and Tolerance Matching Down to 0.1%

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - May 9, 2008 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of the ACAS 0612 AT automotive precision thin film chip resistor array, which is tested according to AEC-Q200 and offers a 1000-V ESD stability rating. The device is optimized to meet new automotive industry requirements for temperature and humidity, while offering high repeatability and stable performance for industrial, telecommunication, and consumer electronics.

The new Vishay Beyschlag ACAS 0612 AT resistor array offers defined tolerance matching down to 0.1% (equivalent to ±0.05%) and TCR tracking down to 10 ppm/K (equivalent to ±5ppm/K), making it ideally suited for precision analog circuit, voltage divider, feedback circuit, and signal conditioning applications that require extraordinarily stable fixed resistor ratios.

The device delivers stable performance for automotive electronics, including engine control units, gear box controls, information, safety, power supply, body electronics, and braking systems; industrial electronics, such as energy management, measurement control, steering technology, sensors, scales, and bridged and precision amplifiers; telecommunication electronics such as display technology and base stations; and consumer electronics including high-end audio and studio technology.

With an absolute TCR down to ±25ppm/K, the ACAS 0612 AT features a maximum film temperature of +155°C and a 75-V operating voltage. The device is offered with resistance values from 47W to 150kW in two pairs or four equal resistor values. Each resistance element is rated to 0.1-W dissipation, up to a maximum of 0.3W per package.

The resistor array offers a low cost when compared to using four high-precision resistors, and its small 1.5-mm by 3.2-mm package enables the design of high-density circuits. Suitable for processing on automatic SMD assembly systems, the new device is RoHS-compliant and compatible with lead (Pb)-free and tin/lead (Sn/Pb) reflow and vapor-phase soldering processes.

The ACAS 0612 AT also complies with the GADSL and the CEFIC-EECA-EICTA list of legal restrictions on hazardous substances. This includes full compliance with 2000/53/EC End of Vehicle life (ELV), 2000/53/EC Annex II to End of Vehicle Life (ELV II) directives, 2002/95/EC Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), and 2002/96/EC Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE).

Samples and production quantities of the new ACAS 0612 AT resistor array are available now, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery starts at $0.22 per piece.

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1,000 Company listed on the NYSE (VSH), is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors, and optoelectronics and selected ICs) and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, sensors, and transducers).
