Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO), Inc. Announces the General Availability of Its Terminology Portal Service for EMR/EHR and Charge-Capture Applications
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 19 / / - Towards the Electronic Patient Record (TEPR) - IMO, the leader in clinical interface terminology, announced today its next-generation interface terminology delivery service. The service gives clients using IMO-enhanced terminologies access to all of IMO's terminology knowledge sources. The service is powered by terminology searching algorithms optimized for millisecond response times in a highly scalable and redundant environment. The Terminology Portal Service is available for the following IMO products:
- IMOŽ Problem IT(TM) (mapped to ICD9-CM(1) and SNOMED CT),
- IMOŽ Procedure IT(TM) (mapped to CPTŽ, HCPCS, ICD9 Procedure
Codes, and SNOMED CT),
- IMOŽ Medication IT(TM) - (mapped to RxNorm)
"This technology removes three major challenges in the health information market: unreliable search results, managing updates in terminology content, and difficulties with implementation," says Jose Maldonado, IMO's Terminology Product Manager. "With its fast, scalable and predictable search engine, the Terminology Portal Service guarantees reproducible and accurate search results. The hassle-free update mechanism significantly simplifies regulatory updates and change management. The ease of deployment reduces the total cost of ownership."
"Over the past 14 years, we at IMO have consistently observed that a major challenge for EMR/EHR vendors is delivering a consistent and reliable user experience that can accommodate the ever changing healthcare market and diverse user community," says Dr. Andrew S. Kanter, IMO's Chief Medical Officer. "Our portal solution allows our clients to focus on their core business without concerns about the overhead associated with delivering a vocabulary service at the point of care."
Clients of IMO's interface terminology can take full advantage of reference terminologies such as SNOMED CT with minimal development investment through a consistent, scalable and optimal search engine.
Medicalis, a leading provider of integrated requisitioning, decision support and analytics for radiology and cardiology, understands the value of accessible controlled terminologies. "We recognized the value of IMO's vocabulary offering and were able to implement their portal solution within our solutions in a very short period of time! We also value the simplicity of using the same service to support our Canadian clients using ICD-10-CA as well as US clients using ICD-9-CM. Furthermore, we can now analyze our client's data from both sides of the border using the SNOMED CT mappings available through the IMO portal," says John C. Delong, VP of Product Strategy and Clinical Content.
Cambridge Health Alliance, an academic public health system in the metro Boston area and a user of IMO's terminology within the Epic system, recognized the need for delivering quality diagnostic searching services in their intranet-based, charge capture application. "We were able to integrate the IMO portal quickly and provide the enhanced diagnosis and procedure searching services that our users were looking for," said Joe Velletri, Cambridge developer.
PassportMD, has become the premier consumer healthcare portal, helping people keep track of all elements of their family's health and wellness including health information, personal health records, doctor communication, pharmacy and expenses.
